IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (30) | ^Yah have your monthly payments uber cheap so you can afford to mod the car when you want. Plus you won't get ripped on APR charges either! I know your going for the "charcoal" color.....ahhaha, I know you wouldn't step up to the OBP like me, too much to handle. Tim - I contacted Geoff, I will find you an answer soon. IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (30) | ^Going for a conservative tune for now. Going to juice the stock block as long as possible, then built motor/heads ! I believe I will be fine for a long long time *knocks on wood* with this setup and a conservative tune. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (6) | Well - nuff said. Phuck it - I called HPC myself. They confirmed for me that I am correct. You received the standard coating. The HiPercoat Extreme coating feels like 150 grit sandpaper. It is very textured. thoughts????????? t |

I can see where this could be confusing. On the Jet-Hot side it is called JH2000 and on the HPC side it is called e-series. At the AZ location we do 4 different coatings. Sterling silver rated to 1300 degrees Extreme sterling rated to 1700 degrees Black and grey both rated to 1600 degrees The "ruff" coating you are refering to is the "E" series and is rated at 2000* this coating is done in UT costs much more and takes quite some time do to shipping. We are more than happy to use this coating if a customer requests it. Feel free to let me know if there are any other questions at all. HPC should chime in on this thread in the next couple days to clear up any other confusion. Best regards, ERic

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (6) | It is as I have said all along: HPC has a product called HiPercoat Extreme. This is very similar to JetHot 2000. Both coatings are gritty (textured). They feel kinda like sandpaper. Both coatings are very much superior in dealing with high temperatures as compared to other coatings. They are also thicker coatings and provide more heat insulation. I advised Chris to look into getting the Hipercoat Extreme due to the awesomeness of it. He said he was definitely getting that coating. As it turns out, he didn't get HiPercoat Extreme. I wanted to make sure he was set straight as to what coating he actually received. Link to HPC HiPercoat Extreme: High Performance Coatings, Inc. Moreover, I am confused. The Sterling, Extreme Sterling .. they are Jet-Hot brand coatings. I thought this was HPC coatings? IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (30) | Well, we will see what HPC has to say. The coating I got was think, but not rough like you stated Tim. Tim, I wrapped the entire Full-Race setup with the Thermo-Tec Black Heat Wrap and sprayed it with the Thermo-Tec Black Heat spray. Do you think that would be even better than getting the rough gritty version? Do you think I am good on handling the heat now? Handling the heat under my hood is my #1 concern. |

I just know from the conversations that we have had in the past, and due to what you have posted in this journal, that you like/want the best. HiPerCoat Extreme is the best. It is definitely much better than the standard coating in terms of insulation, and as HPC puts it: "Exhaust Component skin temperature reduction". Their standard coatings get 1 star in this area. The HiPerCoat Extreme gets 4 stars. The fact that you wrapped it will allow you to gain a lot of temperature reduction for sure. However, with that said, don't kid yourself about the coatings. HPC HiPerCoat Extreme and Jet-Hot 2000 are true thermal barriers that provide way better skin temperature reduction than the standard coatings. In all honesty, I can't believe that I have had to argue this over and over across the past 4 years here. So many vendors talk about their 2000d coatings but they in no way come close to the real Jet-Hot 2000 or the HPC HiPerCoat Extreme. I have plenty of experience with these coatings and their standard counterparts in the domestic world - and a bunch of this experience is with my close friends who all road race. Long story short: You now know what you have. I really wanted to see you with the kickarse coating which is why I specifically brought it up. Are you ok with what you have? Yes, you probably are. It all depends on the application. If you were road racing the car and baking the headers consistently to 1700+ degrees for long periods of time then I would be a tiny bit worried. t

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (30) | I mean, I ordered the setup with the HPC HiPerCoat Extreme, and I guess I didn't get it. If my setup is rated for 1600 degree from HPC, the Thermo-Tec wrap and spray is rated for "2000" degree, so both those combined would put me maybe around the range of the HiPerCoat Extreme with wrap? I know Geoff and Full-Race will get this worked out with HPC. Either way, yah I am happy that I got the setup and it has a coating. Would I be even more happier if it had the HiPerCoat Extreme, yes.
