Well on the 24th of June (this past Saturday) I went to Limerock, CT to go have some fun on their roadcourse. Aussie Steve aka EatV8 tagged along for the ride up. Weather was ****ty on the way up there, but it lightened up and stopped when we were getting briefed in class. First session was freaking awesome!! I pulled about 120 on the straight, and was really having fun. Its def worth every damn penny. I had an awesome instructor with me, he taught me the track and some moves as well. I ran in the Novice class since it was my first time ever on a roadcourse, let alone, on a course with other cars blowing by the turns and straights. Rules were, don't pass someone, unless they stick their hand out the window and point which side they want you to pass. My instructor also gave me some advice that if that person is going to slow for you and you wanna pass and they don't let you, come up near them to remind them that they need to let you go. So, I did that to a Lotus Elise, he was going pretty well, but I wanted to over take him, apparently the closer I got, the harder he pushed the car with his other friend who was in a Lotus Elise too. I was behind him the whole time waiting to pass him, but need the signal from him first. Finally after the turn that you take to go on the straight, he gave the signal (fist) that he was going to go in the pit lane, along with his friend. There, I moved to the side and blew by him. After the first session was over, my instructor and I were talking about the track and my car when this older dude came up and talked to me. Introduced himself, and asked if that Black STi in the back of me was mine. I said yah its mine. He was like well, I was the one in the Lotus Elise that you were behind of. Apparently, he said that I was really close to him and he was scared, so he pushed his car to the limits to get away but couldn't. That was the reason why he went into the pit lane, to basically get away from me and let me get ahead. I was impressed that my STi with only sways and endlinks pushed a Lotus Elise to the limits. He also said that he has 40 years of racing experience and that he couldn't believe that it was my first time ever on a roadcourse. He said I drove really well, I honestly thought he was BS'ing me, but he just kept saying WOW about my car. Second session and third sessions was awesome. The sun came out and the track dried up. My instructor loved the car and asked all about Meth Injection!!!!!!! He couldn't believe how fast the car was and how it handled with just sways and endlinks. I never got passed the whole time I was on the course (except for one time). There were Carrera 4S's, 911 Turbos, Z06, Elise's up the WAZOO, and a bunch of M3's and Miata's.

Well here is what everyone wants to hear!! Session 4. Driving halfway and really getting into my braking and exit cornering. So, I come out of a turn and wanted to take full advantage of the road and used the rumble strips. Well, apparently my dumb dupa used to much and got the left tires a bit on the dirt.....no bid deal...I was like ok, just turn the wheel and come back on the track slightly. Well, since the dirt was wet and stuff, when my wheels caught onto the track, my car spun side ways from the 12 o'clock position to the 5 o'clock position, across the track and onto the grass headed to a huge freaking hill/mountain wall. Luckly (THANK GOD!!!!!) my car stopped about 4-5 ft short to slamming into it!!! It was so intense that grass/dirt/lil rocks got STUCK between where the tire meets the rim (the bead). Yah....so the rules are to pull into the pit lane and explain what happened. If you get all 4 wheels off the track, you gotta do that, do that 2 times in the day and your done for the day. Well the person that asked me what happened was the Lotus guy aka an Instructor! I told him the story and he was cool about it, but advised me to go back to the area where I park the car and clean out the rim/tires. I agreed since I didn't want to take any chances. Afterwards we went to go out to eat, me, Jake, Alex, and Aussie Steve. Then we headed home, about a total of of 1 1/2 hours after leaving Limerock, I feel my wheel rumbling...I pull over and poof...my front left rim is all LOW/Flat....bugger!!! Switched to the donut and thats what I am on now....driving at 55mph from NY area to NJ blows!

So the story now is that I apparently need a new tire....I am going to clean up the rim/tire in the morning, bring it to Subaru and see if they can mount and balance it...hopefully that will work out!!! Otherwise, its a new/used tire for me. My plans are to make my BBS rims my track wheels and slap on Falken 615's for track days! Pics to come and some vids later. Hope you enjoyed the story!!!

I just got back from the Subaru dealership...they dis-mounted the tire and there was about 3 handfuls of shavings inside...where the rim ate away at the tire...I should of just freaking put on the donut when I left the track.....well the dealership wanted $250 for a new tire mounted...I was like screw that....so hopefully if this guy pulls through, I can get the tire that has less miles than the ones on there for $80 shipped....for now, I am driving my 1986 Camaro with no A/C and leaky freaky t-tops! FTW! Plus the radiator fans are always on, since the fan switch blew, ahhahahaha, crap! Pics to come, they are on the phone.

It looked like you had quite a moment coming onto noname!! Did you see me and steve spin in the left hander? You are right about the passing but Jake hung right with you afterwards!! It was a blast watching you drive while riding in jakes car. Your car looked stout in the trackout sections of the curves.

I would say that you were fastest of the group. The fact that Jake was able to hang with you for several laps was because of his trail braking technique. Where you began braking was earlier than Jake's braking point, which was at the four hundred board, then he rode his brakes deep into bigbend. If you want to actuallize your cars superiority, ease into trail braking technique. Your line was usually good and you carried good speed at the apexes. I find that the unlearning of smooth street braking/early throttle release technique is a difficult initial task for track novices. I'll try to remember other thoughts I had while watching you drive.
Also, Alex was about fastest in his group. On day 2 he was running in intermediate group. I have never seen anybody progress as fast as him. A fast learner.
