50 feet will get you the two intercooler pipes, i had 50 feet and it covered the cold side, the hot side and that small little pipe that goes into the turbo.

Yah the only thing is this stuff comes in 12" x 24" rolls. So I figured that should do maybe 2 feet of intercooler piping?

^Oh really? Nice.....hmmm got to do some measure, got a good way of doing that? I figured I would measuer the tape measuer around the diameter of the outside piping. Then measure rought how long all of it is.

well that'll work and not work at the same time...because the width of the gold foil will affect the spacing and length needed for it.
just get a lot lol. got a pic of what it looks like when you buy it?

Thanks, I haven't purchased it yet, next week I will. I believe there will def be cutting when I get it, inorder to wrap the intercooler piping and CAI. I will first try it on the CAI, and then see how that goes to get the hang of it. I have to go and get my flange welded onto the intercooler piping for the TiAL BOV, and I have to get the meth nozzle mounted on the other intercooler piping before it all gets wrapped up in the gold foil film.

chris, the gold foil only reflects heat. It doesn't insulate.

correct teh clap, so if there's hot air going in, it's going to stay hot.
i wanted to try to make the air coming in as cold as possible and then have it retain it's temperature while going through the piping.

if there is no heat source directly "shining" on the gold foil it doesn't do anything.

if that makes sense.

right, it does make sense.
it needs a heat source to take effect...but won't do anything if there's no heat....while other products may help cool or insulate as you said the air as it gets colder.

ok, let me try and be a little clearer.

say you use a stock placement turbo.

if you were to wrap your maf sensor it wont do squat (except look pretty).

if you were to wrap your intercooler piping that goes over top of an un covered turbo that does "glow heat" then it would help.

nasa uses it to protect their stuff from sun light.

McLaren uses it in their engine bay to help protect the panels from the glowing heat of the exhaust.

So basically, don't get this its pointless, and get the silver wrapping that uses the shoelaces?

What if you wrapped it with exhaust wrap, and then wrapped it with the goil foil ontop?

the gold foil is adhesive and i'm not sure i'd want to put that on exhaust wrap.

probably best to get it ceramic coated.

then you could put some gold foil right around where the turbo is and near the throttle body (depending which direction your intercooler goes).
