Looks awesome!

I don't mean to get off the beaten path here, but why the Crawford block? What's so great about them? Couldn't you achieve the same results by using your stock block, or have it built to the specs of the Crawford block for less cost?

The Crawford block is also open-deck, correct?

That's cool, it's a good question. I got the crawford block because I've heard great things about their blocks. In addition, they use good quality pistons and rods, and have been putting blocks together for a very long time. However, the main reason I used Crawfords block is because I needed a new block....mine blew on the dyno, and we were not sure how bad the damage was (I was hearing audable detonation when another shop tuned the car). Luckly I did go with the new block because on my old block, the cylinder walls were scored and would need some serious machining.

Yes, you can still acheive the same result by using your stock block and having it built to Crawford specs (you could actually make your block better then Crawfords if you wanted or had the money). For the cost, it really depends on how much machining work your old motor needs. For me, getting Crawfords block was a better choice then having my old motor machined.

The Crawford block is a Cast Semi-Closed Turbo Block .

Thank you for your reply. Would it be cheaper just to go with a Crawford block over getting the stocker modified to Crawford-like specs?

I'm fairly new to Subaru, but is it possible to have the "open deck" "filled in" to make it a "closed deck?" Does this make any sense?
