You're going to love the gt30r. Any rear shots of the whisper yet?

They called me yesterday and said that they have everything except the turbo in already and its looking pretty good fitment-wise. I'll leave the pricing to Harman because since there's so many variables to an installation such as what possible issues that may arise or special requests in the setup ppl may take my quote as a quote for themselves.

The Perrin EL headers will take away from the boxer rumble but IMO in a good way. I loved the rumble but I don't miss it. Plus it makes the car quieter.

I decided to go with the HKS SSQV too which I always thought about getting but never did because I didn't "need" it in the past. But, since I'll eventually go for a higher octane map I might exceed the reliable limits of the stock BPV. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to get a good tail end shot. But, in time...

What made you choose Perrin over another brand such as UR?

Honestly I got a good deal for the Perrin kit and just went that route. I looked into the UR kit but it was beyond what I wanted to spend. Damn, 2999 posts JJ18Sniper; almost 3k!

^^^ Yup still have the APS piping.

Default Perrin gt30r tuned!

My Perrin gt30r kit got tuned yesterday and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I finally got the setup that I wanted to begin with and Harman did a great job with installation and tuning. Other than it being a typical Perrin gt30r setup they added their custom CAI and rerouted my APS intercooler piping. I have to note they did an excellent welding job. To relieve boost they swapped out the stock BPV for a HKS SSQV. I had a pretty annoying idle with the last setup that would sometimes stall the car. Dan stayed past closing to help me resolve the idle issue. We kept on getting 340-350 at the wheels was wondering why it wasn't producing as much as a setup like mine would normally pump out. On load the rpms would climb but pulse as it reached the end of the pull. The team at Harman (thanks to Adon) finally ended up checking the injectors and just by swapping out a stupid clogged injector and couple more runs we got 386 whp! Since I bought the injectors used thier I always questioned their condition. If you ever purchase used injectors I'd spend the extra cash and flow test them or just buy brand new ones to be safe. Dan did his finishing touches on the map and backed it down a bit. Final numbers on 20 psi and 91 octane can be seen below. Torque on this mofo kicks ass!

Driving impressions: This setup is awesome! I can see myself sticking with this setup for a while (more than two months j/k). On the dyno we settled on 372 whp and 379 wtq and when we went out to data log I finally got my O-sht face back. To put it in Dan's words its "deceivingly fast" because it rips through the gears with the least amount of noise. It's not the exhaust you hear but just the whirl of the Garrett turbo and piercing flutter of the HKS. The MadDad Whisper is the perfect exhaust; actually it seems like I haven't even upgraded the exhaust but its there and its 3" catless all the way back. From the tuning session it doesn't look restrictive at all. Since I've installed it, I haven't even turned on the radio. I just drive in total silence. It gets better because now I have the sound of the gt30r spinning in the background. The speed of accelleration is totally understated by the quiteness of the car. I took a couple of friends around for a spin and they had the same exact comments as Dan. The power is much better delivered with the gt30r compared to the sz55. Spools just as quick and top end is much, much more rewarding. I'll need to adjust to this power and it seems it'll take some time to get used to this power on the track. Great combinations of parts and I couldn't be happier with the results. I'm stoked with this setup!

I'll try to get some pics up ASAP.

They actually said the kit I got fit fit perfectly; no adjustments needed. I wonder if Perrin tweaked the kit for fitment when they upped the price.

Numbers aren't the highest but I'm defintely satisfied with the results. I tried to aim for a quick street car but nothing too punchy where I won't be able to road race effectively with it (when I have the time that is). Even though I've upgraded to racing pads, brake fluid, and SS braided lines, I don't think the brake setup is up to par anymore.

Very nice, you wasted no time at all!
You NEED Meth injection with that crappy Cali 91 octane, I would bet you would see at least a 15-20% power increase.
Engine bay pics please.

35r would be pretty laggy for a daily driven street car.

The idea of Meth sounds nice but I'd rather not at this time because its one less thing to worry about. I'll eventually go bigger but I would have to build my motor first. I was so close to going 35r but went with the 30r at the last minute because I feel its always better to go with the smallest turbo to get you to your power goal. Even though I have the .82 a/r, the 30r is a pretty quick spooler and I'm confident that it is a very capable turbo beyond the limits I'm currently pushing it.
