I think I'm going to have Harman install it this time around. They make a custom intake for the Perrin kits and w/o it I have no way of getting my car to their shop. Logistically, it would be better to have them do it plus they could do it quicker and tune it all at the same time. However I don't imagine it to be that tough.

It sure looks good sitting on the box! I'd like to see that picture of your rear when you get time Also, in the second picture it looks like that pipe is tappered a bunch coming from the flange? What is that? I understand you wanted to show the cleaned up weld, but It appears the pipe tappering down? Maybe it just looks that way.

I'm pretty sure its not tapered I think it just looks that way for some reason in the picture. The look is so much better than how it was with the Borla. Simple design and great sounding; couldn't be happier.

you said the whisper is very quiet but i was wondering if it still maintins the straight through design. does it look like it continues 3 inch all the way through the muffler or does it taper down inside?

I'll be at Harman here and there next week. I think I'm taking delivery of the rotated kit and turbo today. :disco: Then I'm planning to drop my car off at Harman's on Monday for install and tune. oce420, good to hear you got your turbo issues sorted out. So how's it running; still good?

From what I can see the Whisper looks like its 3 inch all the way through. I'm not sure about the ID in the canister though but it's described by the manufacturer as a 3" catback.

Quote:
The MadDad(TM) Whisper Catback was designed for enthusiasts who want to run a 3" catback but don't what the noise and over the top db levels associated with many 3" catback offering that are available today. The Whisper was designed to strike the best overall compromise between satisfying sound character and overall volume. In addition to is lower than average db levels for a 3" catback, the Whisper totally excels in overall sound quality.
An engineered axlback section incorporates resonator functionality, eliminating the drone that can sometimes occur at particular RPM ranges with some catbacks. The result is an intoxicating purr regardless of the RPM range. You'll also appreciate how the Whisper has been tuned for a highway cruise tone that is settled back so that you never get tired of it. The 3.5" resonated double walled exhaust tip was chosen for its understated OEM look and contribution to the overall sound character. The MadDad(TM) Whisper is built using thick guage T304 stainless steel and houses a low turbulence flex joint in its intermediate pipe. The MadDad(TM) Whisper caback offers you all of the Subaru boxer sound character without the noise....

NOTE: Designed for mating to performance downpipes that end with a standard 3" flange(MadDad V2 w/Flat flange 3CE, Helix, Ividia and several others). If you are running the factory downpipe or a performance downpipe that uses the factory style donut gasket you will require an alternate intermediate that is a special order part. Contact us at 978-401-4624 for special ordering a Whisper to connect to the factory donut style gasket.

^^ It doesn't taper at all within the muffler. Apparently the muffler has a resonator within it and its surrounding walls.

Default Perrin GT30R .82 a/r Rotated Kit Arrives

Got my Perrin gt30r along with its rotated mount kit yesterday and had the chance to take some pics. Gotta give it up to the guys at GNV motorsports; great pricing and spectacular customer service. The gt30r looks much better than the SZ55 I used to have; it must be the moster sized inlet compared to the stock location turbos. I think this is the first turbo that I was impressed with size-wise. I remember taking the 20G out and saying to my self that's it? In a way, same goes for the SZ55 too but the gt30r looks pretty awesome. Hope it performs as good as it looks...can't wait to get my car back from Harman!

First pic is the gt30r compared to the second pic SZ55 (left) and the DB TD06H-20G (right)

Front the front gt30r (pic 1) and SZ55 (pic 2)...

just went thru your journal and saw you have equal length perrin header(s) and was wondering if that takes away the distinct boxer rumble at all? I love your car, too. I want an aspen white on gold one day
