Looks great

Looks good. I'm starting to think I should have gotten them to run more wiring for lighting in the ceiling of the garage for my new place. Doh!

I could use a few more outlets like you're too. Doh again!

So yea, when's the install day?

How many cars do you get in there? I'm assuming it's a 2 car garage, do both cars fit with the toolbox/workbench/etc in there?

My new place has a little space over to the side, hopefully I can cram all my stuff in that space and still get 2 cars in the garage.

If your walls don't get drywalled then you can extend the existing wiring to add more outlets, etc. However, if you didn't opt for any extra wiring then they probably just put a 15amp line to the garage and that is it. That 15amp line will run about 1440 watts @ 80%. That's equivalent to a lot actually. Consider that I have 880 watts of fluorescent lighting + the garage door opener + two 100 watt incandescent bulbs on that circuit and it doesn't trip the breaker. The problem is if you wanted to run other utilities at the same time (like an air compressor, electric tools, etc). That's why you want another 20 amp circuit out there.

If, by chance, your breaker box is in the garage then you are pretty much golden because you do whatever you want (install extra breakers and run more circuits). My issue is that my garage is a separate garage in the back of the house and my breaker box is actually in the basement on the front of the house (and I have a finished basement). So, I can't run anything extra without tearing up the finished basement and then digging a new trench to the garage.

Yes, I can barely fit 2 cars in the garage. However, I don't roll that way . My wife and I made a deal when we purchased this house that she would park on the street in the front of our house and I would have the garage to myself unless it was going to snow. When it snows, I compact both cars into that space. It's tight, but it works. No way I would do that on a normal basis though. My car would easily end up with door dings and scratches (kids!).

As far as the next round of modifications, I don't know. When modding my car will take more than just an evening, I have to plan it with the wife. Basically, with this particular mod step, I want 2 days of dedicated time. Thus, I have to convince my wife that she needs to watch the kids for 2 days by herself and that I - absolutely - cannot be bothered. This, as most dads know, is not that easy to obtain (unless you have a wife who is a traditional-style wife who lives to cook, clean, take care of the kids, and please her husband - rofl!). We're a family of equals. This particular round of house modifications were done with the wife and kids out of town and me taking 2 days off of work.

First off that's pretty cool you worked that out with your wife about parking her car on the street unless it's uber bad weather.

I would love to have the garage to myself and tell my roommate to park his car in the driveway (which if I can ever afford a project car will happen) but for now I need the rental income from renting him out a bedroom so I only get 1 of the spaces inside the garage.

I'm pretty lucky, the breaker box is in the garage. Guess I'll have some fun tearing into that (and tearing into the drywall) when I decide I need more light (which will probably be soon, I snuck in last night and there are only 2 dinky light bulbs up there. ). The phone/network/cable connection box is also in the garage, I wish I had known both the electrical and network/cable boxes were going to be in the garage, then I wouldn't have spent a couple of hundred bucks putting more electrical outlets out there as well as cable and a datajack... doh!

I do hope to get a compressor eventually, guess I'll have to park that close to the breaker box for short wiring.

Default Manifold Mockup

It's been a long time since I updated my journal. Not too much new. I finally got my intake manifold back from Jesse @ pnpheads.com. In Jesse's own words:

Quote:
They all flow within 2% of each other! 268, 271, 266, 270 cfm.

We attached the head to the flow bench, then the TGV, then the manifold, then the TB and flowed each runner with the valve at max lift with the TB wide open
Those were 100% stock flow numbers through TGV deletes. Jesse's guy did a simple quick cleanup of the manifold outlet ports and the flow numbers jumped to the 285 range.

I took some time and did a mockup of my parts.

Port Matched and polished TB
STI intake manifold with a little port matching and cleaning up
TGV Deletes
APS Inlet Tube
APS Fuel Rails
SX AFPR
KS Tech 8mm Phenolic spacers

I'll get all this installed one day - lol.

I also got a Whiteline 27/29 Front sway bar for my birthday. Woowooo!

And I picked up a used set of RE070's for $100!

That's it for now. Enjoy!

Jeez Wolf, is all of that for the stock turbo, or do you have plans to upgrade to a stock mounted turbo? Btw- nice bday gift! and that is a steal on slightly used RE070s.

It's all for the stock turbo ... for now (lol). I've always had plans on moving to a bigger turbo. It will just take me a bit before I get there. I'll be moving up to probably an 8cm Green (probably in like 2 years at the rate that I am going).

Picked up about 5% across the board. Flow numbers are now around 285cfm. I was hoping for a lot more. But, things didn't go exactly as expected. I'll install the manifold as-is and, whenever the motor blows up, do a lot more work on the intake manifold.
