Default Modifications

This journal chronicles my '05 CGM STi. I ordered it in June of 2004. I picked it up in September of 2004. I've been delaying joining in on the journal board because most of the journals are the same. I wanted to offer something a little bit different. So, here goes. Welcome to Tales of a Daily Driver. I drive this car year round here in Maryland where we see every type of weather. I have 2 kids and this vehicle also serves as a family transport. Furthermore, I am a die-hard performance nut and do every modification myself ... even down to the tuning. What's this journal about? Mostly about dirt. I'll have more pictures of my dirty STI than a clean one. I'll also post my thoughts on various performance modifications since I do everything myself. Good luck, Have fun, and enjoy.

For reference, here are some important posts that I have made here at IWSTI.com:
1. Oil Filter comparison
2. Custom Dual Catch Can install
3. StreetTUNER n00b tuning primer
4. Compare stock NB O2 sensor vs. a Wideband
5. Proof of Cobb Stage II running really rich
6. Rescaled Cobb Stage II 1.10 map - a better starting point for StreetTUNER users
7. Modifying the Stock intake box for the best flow
8. Installing Group-N engine mounts
9. Installing the Perrin EBCS and tuning it
10. How To: Automatic Intercooler Sprayer
11. Installing a Walbro 255 ltr/hr fuel pump
12. Walbro does not lower Injector Duty Cycles - Walbro not needed or warranted for a Stage 2 STI.
13. Installation of Nismo/JECS 720cc Injectors
14. Installation and review of Helix 860cc Injectors
15. Do not remove your rear O2 sensor
16. APS 70mm Intake Calibration
17. Tweaking the ECU Throttle table for a more linear Accelerator vs. Throttle

My Stock Dyno

Pics from Today, December 30th, 2005. I haven't washed the car in about 6 weeks. The outside hose is off for the winter so I really need to get to a DIY car wash.

What a day to start my journal. I just found my FIRST door ding today! Grrrrrrrrr. I park really far away from everybody. I guess I shouldn't complain. 15 months on a daily driver and I have my first door ding. I would go get some pics of it but, as those with kids will understand, I can't because I am watching my kids right now. That is single handedly the biggest reason why my STI is dirty ... the kids. You never understand how much they eat up your time and change your life until you have them. My kids pwn me - rofl.

Great pics and nice, dirty car. I live in MD and mother nature is throwing everything she has around here this year. The next few days should be nice with 50 degree weather. Hopefully, you can clean your car around this time.

Eh. With New Year's plans, a sick wife, and 2 kids .... I highly doubt it. But, we can all hope (or not hope given this thread ).

If you happen to be around the Beltsville area where the Costco is, the BP has a touchless car wash that has no rails to put your driver's side tire on. Its a quick clean and the only one I go to for a quick wash and it's safe with no undercarriage scraping. Hope your wife feels better! Happy New Year!
