I'm evaluating this issue majin... the intercooler is ICE cold during normal driving. I have noticed the dip in the tune... and it MAY be the result of poor air circulation in a dyno situation.

good luck JJ - i am sure that you will still be able to squeeze more "go" out of your car (which is very nicely set up by the way)...

LOL. I wanted to comment earlier, but I never got the chance....work is killer right now. The car is running great!!! I took it out for a little spin the other day.....after I saw that JJ18sniper and RacerXS went to automaster for a tune, I had to take my baby out

Congrats JJ on the tune and your set up looks great!!!! Those are pretty good numbers. You will definitely make a lot more power with meth and a fmic. IMO TMIC's are not good for making a lot of power, yeah it helps spool the turbo, but the entire purpose of an intercooler is to get cold air through the IC fins to cool the charged air going to the throttle body....that's pretty hard to do when the IC is sitting on top of a hot motor, and the hot air is rising through the bottom of the IC.

^ this is true, but (not trying to start another TMIC versus FMIC thread either ), air flow through the IC is what cools the air inside it, sitting on a dyno is not going to flow the proper amount of air through the TMIC to cool the charge... i agree that a FMIC will yield more power on the dyno under the same conditions, but on the street, i think (being that the core sizes are the same) that it won't make much difference at all so long as there is adequate flow through the IC.

also, at speed, the amount of heat in the engine would have far less impact on heating the IC than on the dyno because of reduced air pressures under the car due to wind speed of the air under the car and the amount of air going through the TMIC and down over the engine.

JJ: although a bit obscured the point of my post is for you to get what you can out of your car using the set up you want. if you want to get tons of power out of your car, then you should stop spending money on it and just get a built block, etc. if you want to stay with a TMIC, then do it (not meant as a dig at 2FastCars).

There are many good points here. I have noticed that under real driving conditions that the APS TMIC is very efficient, and is cool to the touch after a hard drive. It was actually "sweating" today after several hard pulls. I was surprised at it's efficiency. When summer comes along it may be a different story, but the cooling factor on the dyno did not seem to be sufficient to make the TMIC work as it should. Meth or FMIC?... good question.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Looks like I will wait it out till spring/summer on the cooling notion. I still need to identify the dip in the curve though currently.

Next up is a NEEDED Defi setup to monitor what is going on, followed by some long overdue Swaybars (Cusco).

Will need to further debate the Meth vs. FMIC option. At this point it looks that I would choose one or the other, not both.

i'd go with meth. FMIC isn't good at taking road damage over time, and it's an expensive (and important) piece of performance hardware for your car...

the point is this: if you want all the power you can get, you will have to go front mount and a big turbo setup, etc. if you want a TMIC then stay with it and get what you can out of it. you're not always going to be the fastest car out there, and modding to the point of wanting to be is a pipe dream.

my set up should be slow but i'm whipping other cars with more power, etc. does it mean anything? only that i spent less money to get to the same point as others.
