I did my sway bars this weekend, and that took me a long ass time. While I was doing the front sway I looked around, saw the engine mounts, and told Chris (boondocks, who helped big time with my install): "Ben is doing his engine mounts today, I will NEVER touch those!"

Pics!

Yeah, no picts. I was black up to my elbows in grease. Didn't want to touch the camera. Plus, I ran out of latex gloves. You can't image the contortions I had to make to get to the two back bolts. I had to un-thread the two about 1.5" with my index and middle finger, while in a position that just plain hurt. I could use the good old opposable thumb because there was not enough height to compress my hand, it had to stay completely flat.

I had to duct tape 3 wrenches together to get to the bolt to break it and torque it down. It was a bish.

i wouldn't worry about the nvh too much. i was shocked by the nvh when they were first installed. give it some time and it won't be as bad once they're broken in. i don't even notice the vibration from my cusco mounts anymore.

Yep, never touching those, the front sway seemed like a pain as it was (since we had to remove the jackplate and subframe and so forth).

lets hope so. i get an annoying vibration when the air is on and i'm idling. I just pm'd jorge to see if he can raise my idle to 1000rpms, because it goes away at that point.

i could feel the vibration everywhere right after the install...the steering wheel...through the seats....everywhere. it's definitely worse at start-up and idling. i would give them a month before making any changes. the pros of these mounts definitely outweigh the cons, imho.

Glad that you got everything to fit back together and no extra bolts! overall, other than the spilled beer, i think the install went pretty well!

sweet ride by the way (makes me want to go wingles.... hmmmmmmmm)

Remove bottom bolt for each engine mount. Jack engine up. Remove 2 top bolts. Remove passenger side mount easily, find that the driver's side is stuck because of my EGT probe. Drink beer. Remove maifold, remove mount. Install plate on new mounts, install onto car. Realize that the new mounts are directional, take them out, rotate plate and re-install. Drink beer. Tighten 2 bolts per mount. Install manifold & re-wrap. Drop engine, install 1 bolts per mount on bottom. Drink beer. Re-attach sway bar. Re-attach pitch mount. Re-install intercooler. Go for a ride.

Together, the cusco engine & tranny mounts definitely let a lot more vibration into the cabin. I feel like I am driving a 60's big block now. It is not really much louder than before, though if I were to get into a stock car I am sure it would be a marked difference.

Overall I am happy. Wish I could have gotten more done yesterday, but oh well. Thanks Renato (i know that is spelled wrong) for the help. I owe you a meal.

BTW- Also added a cusco master cylinder brace to my to-do list.

Ok, I bit the bullet and purchased the Whiteline Roll Center Adjuster kit (aka the Ball Joint Extender). I've wanted them ever since I was in the group buy (for $200 more, btw) for the 6gun ones. I know these are not as aggressive as the 6gun's but my car is not dropped much with the Prodrive springs (and the eventual Prodrive suspension) so I don't think I need it that aggressive.

I got them from TiC where Clint has then for $22 less than anywhere else, plus free shipping!

I think these will go on in a few weeks when i put my plates on. If the day goes well I'll also throw the TiC fender braces in.

Just finished changing my rear diff to amsoil 75-90. After 10k, the Valvoline was nearly clear, with a bit of a dark haze to it. Nothing was stuck to the magnet on the lower plug. Nothing.

I added a few oz. of the LSD friction modifier, just for the hell of it. I have heard that some people were needing it, so why not?

Double checked that my nuts and bolts from the engine mount install were still tight (they were).

Also made sure that my coolant was where it should be. I had it changed at a local firestone (closest by) and they spilled coolant all over. My header wrap is now crystalline, and everything on the bottom of the engine has a coolant film on it.

Also threw on a radiator shroud I got for cheap.

Now- time to track her!

At the track today (Autobahn south), on the back straight, i was holding my own against a STi with meth and a 35r. On the 1800 (?) foot straight, he would gain about a car on me. I was amazed how my car kept up.

Unfortunately, the 35r blew a head gasket. Sad.
