We did have an extremely hard time getting the lower strut bolt loose but eventually got it. (As a side note: We needed to take the lower strut bolt off to be able to get a socket on the upper caliper bolt. The caliper bolters were on too tight and we were not able to get the off using a 19mm wrench.)

Anyway, when we went to do the drivers side all was well until that damn lower strut bolt. But this time we stripped it pretty bad. It was just wayyyy to over tightened and we didn’t have enough leverage to budge it (I don’t have air tools ) So the next day I bought a replacement lower strut nut from Subaru for $9.xx and then I took the car to my friends shop where he let me use the air tools. I got the stripped nut off in no time and finished up pretty quickly after that.

I thought all my problems were over until I actually tried to drive that car. I have the most intense vibration ever. It’s not so bad under very light or very heavy braking but under moderate / somewhat aggressive stops the whole car violently shakes. It feels like that rotors are warped or loose or something is messed up. I haven yet to figure out this problem so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions they would be very appreciated. I just want to be able to drive my damn car.

And this came in the mail today... the TurnInConcepts Pivot Bushings!! TiC…you guys impressed me once again!
I should be able to install these in the next few days.
Okay Mr. Clown, that is your name because you do not listen. I explained that there is a short period where the pads will transfer material to the rotors. Ben also explained this to you when you called him. If you do not believe us, then call The Brake Man. But you better ask your dad for permission before you call a long distance number, we would not want him to get upset. Ok, j/k with you Alex, but this is seriously what is happening right now. Follow the break in that we explained to you and you will be fine. Call Ben around noon tomorrow if you need any additional reassurances.

Until then, stop posting in the members' journals forum because it is off limits now that the blogs are up: www.iwsti.com/blogs. You were permitted to post here because you are a moderator so just be aware of that next time you post in the members' journals.

LOL @ Nivek. So hostile...

As for your brakes, I have no doubt they will improve as they bed in. If there really is something wrong with the rotors we'll get them replaced, but I find that hard to believe.

So you can take mental health breaks while trying to install all of the bushings they sell.

Let just say Alex let me test drive his STi...first off...he thought I broke something when he heard a LOUD POP...yah thats hard/fast shifting.......ALEX...NEXT TIME....DRIVE THE CAR HARD! So I tested out the brakes and I got the wheels to lock up basically so that you heard a SCRETCH SCRETCH at a medium speed...these brakes CATCH....its like 1 millisecond, and then BOOM your slowing down like no other! Best setup you can get, especially with the weight savings! Big brake kits are good, but Ben and I were talking and he had a good point: A big brake kit for the front may be close to the price of this setup, but your adding weight for the same stopping power. Why do that, if you could decrease the weight with this setup! Ben knows his stuff.....and these brakes are awesome!

yep i agree with chris. alex let me have a go with his car and even though the tires weren't really warmed up (r-comps) it was easy to lock them up with his brake set up. If i was in the market for a brake upgrade i would seriously consider those rotors/pads.

The whole story with Alex driving around without his pro-tuned map still cracks me up, but I'll let him tell you guys about that one...

Alright, well Alex is too slow at updating his Journal so I'm going to have to do it for him.

This is what he made me do while I was visiting him

First we washed his car and took some pics:

Then we put on HSPN and IWSTI stickers:

*

Then I ended up tearing the lights out of his car:

Putting them in an oven:

And taking them apart:

He was pretty happy with his cleared headlights:

And I got some random pic of his interior when we left. The s204 hazard switch and black plastic with the defi gauges looks nice!

There were some other pics of things that went on the few days I was there but I don't think they'll make it on to the internet....

Looks nice, but he needs some better caps for his Enkei wheels as the ones he has are ugly IMO. Enkei Racing caps for the win (see sig).
