Bummer...tried to place the order for the deadbolt SZ55 today. Out of stock for at least 4 weeks. I wasn't expecting that. Not sure what to do at this point. I can wait four weeks, but I'd rather not be waiting on parts at the last minute. Experience has taught me that it NEVER works out and it's usually becomes either expensive or compromising to be in a rush.

Ugh. Well I just solved the riddle why Jerry(the owner) @ Deadbolt suggested the SZ49 to me. Not because it was the best turbo for my application/hard earned $, but because he has them in stock.

After a series of email exchanges with Jerry, the SZ55 went from 4 weeks back ordered to the wheels are backordered from South Africa and 12 of them were lost in shipping and he doesn't have any idea when he will have one available. Why wasn't this mentioned before in all the emails I have exchanged with him about the SZ49 and SZ55? Why isn't this posted on their website so customers know what to expect?

I feel like I am pulling teeth just to order this turbo. It shouldn't be like that, esp for something that costs $2000. He isn't offering any solutions to help me out. I get the feeling that the success of this product has gone to his head. It's a great product and I am happy for their success, but if you don't pay attention to your future customers, you might not have future success.

I gave him a chance to try to earn my business(which I get the feeling he doesn't care much about). Based on his reply, he will come up with a solution, or I will either: find a different turbo or scrap my turbo upgrade plans all together for the time being. The entire turbo upgrade costs too much money to be this frustrated buying parts.

Anyone have any last minute suggestions on a turbo other than one from deadbolt?

Thats stinks about the SZ55.

Have you thought of a 20g with methanol injection? (or GT30R) It will get you 400whp with unreal spool-up. I've mentioned before that the only "in betweener" turbo I'd get is the SZ55 b/c of its 20g-like spool. Since thats not available right now thats what I would look at....this is if it were me.

I believe in K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid)

I want to rely on pump gas(93 octane) and that's it. I don't want it to be complicated or require monitoring or dependency on additional fluids, etc

I would rather run a SZ55 conservatively than push the 20g to the edge. I could "settle" for the 49, but I would always feel like I settled and the price is so close that it would eat me up that I paid X for a lesser product.

Definately don't settle. The only thing keeping me from running methanol is the fact I CAN"T switch from a pump gas to a meth map and back. Besides that it would be perfect. Just throwin some ideas around for ya. If its possible to wait on the SZ55 do it

I gave Jerry one last shot; Get me the SZ55 before Christmas. His reply determines if I will do it this year. Otherwise I'll wait and see what the new year brings and probably give my business to a different player, but that won't be APS or Slowboy and I doubt FP, so maybe something new will come along...

(update Jerry is calling me tonight when I get home from work to try and work this out with me)

Here is what caused me to change my mind on going wingless:

The whole reason for going wingless was because I wanted this wing, but didn't want to pay $1200+ for it. Thanks to Paperchasin for putting this up for sale a few days AFTER I bought the wingless trunk and sent it off to be painted!

No big deal though as I have several interested buyers and I will break even on the trunk sale so I'm not too upset. Would have been nice to know about this about a week sooner though

I won't have the wing till next week, plus I need to get the sides painted, so proably 2 weeks before I get it on the car.

I'll be there. I won't have the wing on the car yet though. It should ship tomorrow which means I will see it next Wednesday or Thursday(at best). It would be amazing if I could get the ends prepped and painted before Saturday, but it's highly unlikely...

Jerry called tonight. He said he should have a SZ55 with fatboy wheel, ported turbo outlet, and 38mm internal wastegate with 15psi spring for me in 6 weeks.

I'm glad we were able to work things out. I guess most of it was a misunderstanding via email because he is a good guy over the phone.

Glad to hear that you were able to work things out with the turbo upgrade. I plan on going the same route, hopefully within the next year.
