| Authorized Vendor | not true at all the Volks are right at 17.5 lbs for the 18x8.5 (we've weighed them about a billion times now, as we frequently get them for a variety of customers), the BBS are 19 lbs (18x8).....you would never ever ever ever ever ever notice that difference, period. The BBS are also FAR easier to replace should the need arise. I understand the whole weight thing, but I think alot of people put way too much emphasis on it in all honesty. If you can notice 2 or 3 lbs per corner on a car, you are far more sensitive than most pro racers I know. It's a great marketing tool...that's about it I've read the thread where the guy claimed they weighed 15 lbs each....cannot comment except to say that it's wrong. Not even the 17's weigh 15.xx lbs Last edited by Z1 Performance; 02-14-2006 at 06:08 AM. |

| S204 Racer | ce28N measured at 16.4 lbs. (on a acale where the oem wheighs 19.4) even with the BBS at 19.?lbs (and assuming 17.5=volk) thats a substantial increase in weight that is not needed. IMO i had heavier wheels, and IMMEDIATELY noticed the difference when going from stock to them. the difference was even firther noticealbe when i ditched em and went to the volks. to me, every bit that can be saved (within reason) helps. im from the 2 wheel community where i always swapped out the oem wheels for magnesium ones. NOW, lets talk about the feeling/difference when dropping 7-9lbs per wheel. that is huge on a 380lb machine...lol im not trying to knock you, or discourage a sale, but rather share my experiences having had 3 different wheels on my 06.... |

| Authorized Vendor | right...but as you change tires, the whole situation changes again and thats my point. 6 lbs (1.5 per corner x 4 corners) is noticeable? What wheels did you swap out from stock initially? From what you are saying (in terms of a 1.5 or 2 lbs difference per corner), essentially, when you drive home with a case of soda or a 24 pack of Poland Spring in your back seat from the grocery store, your car feels different? I've had my pro license now for ~10 years, and have raced since I was 17 in cars that weighed as low as 2400 to as high as 3400 lbs. 2 lbs, spread per corner is not noticeable whatsoever (to me at least...if it is to you, what can I tell you). We are not talking 5-10 lbs per corner, which certainly can change how the car feels. We are tallking less than 2 lbs.....like I said, it's all marketing hype, and that's it. Now, if you talking that same weight on a bike, (yes I've owned and tracked bikes too!) of course you will notice it more...it's a much greater % of the total weight, and you are sitting inline with the tires, not riding in a rectangle like you are with a car. |

| S204 Racer | Im not trying to argue, firstly... with tire and wheel, i have saved quite a bit over my last combo. im no racer, nor do i have your level of track experience. sprung weight versus unsprung weight is a definite difference, as you well know.... im just sharing my personal feelings with regards to lightweight wheels and light(er) tires. im now rolling on ce28n's and rt615's (235-40-18) and the difference is very nice. i just dont see the value in spending 2500(+) for wheels that arent lighter, thas all... |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 Trader Rating: (11) | isn't there more of a difference as to what's on the hub, not the entire combo? meaning a lighter wheel on the hub is preferred eliminating the tire's weight. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (12) | Looks are more important to me then weight. I'd prefer not to add weight, but as long as it's not any heavier then stock, I don't care. My choice in wheels is 98% based on looks. I appreciate all the input though. The way things are looking right now...there's going to be a wild card thrown into the mix. |
