What series do you intend to "race" this car in? SCCA T2? A lot of the mods you have are rather exotic... NASA Super Unlimited?

Yes, mostly Time Attack and NASA / SCCA Time Trials. It's also just something that keeps me going every day. I host alot of track days and there is nothing more fun than modifying a car and seeing the results on the track. I don't think there has been a single track day in the past 4 months where the car was the same for 2 days . I also do a lot of R&D and product testing and there isn't really a better way to test a product than to slap it on a race car and take it to the track .

Once the car is finally "completed" (is that even possible? ) there may be some wheel to wheel racing, but that probably won't take place for a while.

I just got back from a crazy day at various shops and am happy to report that the wing, trunk, and fender are installed!

The pics aren't great because they were taken under fluorescent lighting at night but I'll get some better pictures tomorrow at the track .

The wing is a bit ricey, but I like it . After all, it can't be called rice if it's for a track car, right?

The fender came out really well and made a noticeable difference in throttle response even on the short drive home. The car definitely accelerates better and it felt like it gained a little power (probably all in my head). The fender duct basically connects to the stock airbox with less than 6 inches of tubing while maintaining a consistent 3" diameter. The old snorkus bent in all kinds of shapes, ran about 2.5 feet, and never got any direct air flow because it was blocked by the hood. The extra air flow (and pressure) was definitely noticeable.

Here's what the back of the fender looks like:

Here's where it plugs in:

Here's what it looks like from the engine bay. Quite a short run

Here's what the stock snorkus and other tubing looks like:

And here is what everything looks like without the snorkus:

Normally, the C-West posts come in brushed aluminum. I couldn't stand the way it looked so we sprayed them with black primer, sprayed several coats of black paint, and then for that extra touch, we took some thinner and removed the paint from the C-West logo. We then took sandpaper and a nail file and polished up the C-West logo as well as all of the edges to give it that machined aluminum look:

All in all, it was a very successful day. I'll let you know how the wing and fender perform on the track tomorrow and hopefully will get some better pics for you.

So long until then!

EDIT: I almost forgot about the numbers! The stock trunk with spoiler came in at almost exactly 40 pounds. The aluminum trunk with the C-West wing came in at about 15 pounds. That's a fairly significant savings!

I don't know about NASA, but the car is well beyond anything close to a T2 car. I really don't think there's a class in SCCA for that car.

Decals / vinyl should go on next week (hopefully). I'm still trying to set up the install day.

Thanks for the comments guys!

the wing looks great, but it almost looks a little out of place with the stock wheels and body work. none the less im sure it'll that rear end nice and planted

The wheels won't be stock for much longer, and I think it will look slightly more in place when the graphics go on . I agree with you though, right now it looks a bit odd / out of place. Either way, it's definitely going to be functional. In the end, that's all that matters to me anyway .

In person it looks much better though. The particular angles I shot look pretty bad (imo), but it was hard to get any decent pictures while confined in a garage. Anyway, more pics to come in the daylight.

Not digging the fender at all, and I have been working on building my own for a while. I guess I just don't like how the edges of it are rounded and smoothed over. I like the pic of the silver one and that's kinda the look I am going for on mine....a little bit sharper edges and a more defined shape.
