Also, I have some important news for anyone that is looking for the highest quality (and wind tunnel tested) carbon fiber wing for the STI:

It's a long story, but I screwed up and will be receiving two wings. I ordered a C-West Carbon Fiber GT II S wing while I was in Japan. When I got home from Japan I called C-West USA just to ask about pricing to see if I got a good deal or got totally ripped off. Unfortunately, the guy didn't seem to understand that I was just inquiring about pricing and didn't actually want to ORDER one.

This afternoon I got a call from C-West USA to let me know that my wing was ready to be picked up. Needless to say, I was a bit surprised, and said something to the effect of, "What the hell are you talking about?" I was then told that I had ORDERED a wing and that I had to come pick it up (or have it shipped) and pay for it now that it was ready. I told them that I had no intention of ever ordering a wing, but rather than burning bridges with C-West and ruining our relationship, I decided that I will just go pick it up on Monday and pay for it.

Anyway, this leaves me with an interesting situation because I'll be picking up my wing on Monday from C-West USA and then receiving another one from C-West Japan in about 2 weeks.

So...if anyone wants to buy my other wing when it arrives it's up for grabs. I should be installing the first one on my car on Monday or Tuesday so I'll post pics of it. I have never seen an STi with one and they are very rare. The one I am picking up on Monday is the only GT II S wing they have in stock in the US. Send me a PM if you are interested!

Thanks.

I think it was on google video... someone posted it here or some other subie forum... its pretty cool!

I found the video, its really cool its like 16min long and really really good.

tiff needell is so much better than jeremy clarkson, maybe not quite as witty or funny but I like his analysis better.

The entire interior will be blue, bare, metal. So I guess that's a no .

It actually looks pretty cool in person, I'll try to take some pictures that give you a better perspective tomorrow.

hehe, I bet it does, I was just wondering since I have seen cars that try to clean it up with some carpeting or whatever. Are you putting the console back in?

Ben quick slightly on/slightly off topic question.

What connects your recaro seat(and recaro seat hardware) to the car.

For example I have a similar setup. I have the Recaro Pole Positions, the Recaro Aluminum side mounts and the Recaro height adjustable(tabbed) sliders on order. I also had to buy these special brackets to fit the sliders to the floor of the car and these special brackets also give me a place to bolt my stock seatbelt since my car isn't a full track car like yours(yet).

Did you have to get a similar part?

Yes, I am using the sparco universal seat frame for an 04+ WRX. It's basically just a piece of steel that lines up with the stock bolt holes and then has holes on the top of it to bolt the Recaro sliders to. It also has a little tab on the in-board side for the stock seat belt receptacle to bolt to.

Welcome to another episode of Ben's Useless Numbers. Today we have the glovebox, assorted dash pieces, the passenger airbag, and the SRS airbag control unit.

First we had to remove the dash pieces and glove box to get to the airbag:

Weight: 5.5 lbs

Then we removed the passenger side airbag:

Weight: 5.5 lbs

We also removed the SRS airbag control unit because it was now uesless with all 4 airbags removed:

Weight: 1.5 lbs

Finally, we removed the metal dash support that goes under the steering collumn:

Weight: 1 lb.

With all of the dash pieces removed it was necessary to relocate a few things. We moved the Defi Control Unit from the glovebox and had to stick it on the side of what's left of the center console. Ideally we'll put it in the double DIN space but there wasn't enough slack in one of the wires, so that wasn't possible today. We moved the TEIN EDFC unit from the glovebox to the double DIN slot and then relocated the headlight adjustment, intercooler sprayer, and ODB II port as shown in the picture. We still need to cleanup a lot of wires tomorrow so it won't look quite so messy .

The new placement of the ODB II port rocks! Switching maps was really easy before but now you can even do it without bending over. We also had to relocate the DCCD switches because the center console between the seats is gone but I don't have a picture of it.

I'll take some better pictures tomorrow in the daylight, but overall it came out pretty nice.

New interior weight total: 186.5 lbs
Total weight savings: ~415 lbs (~300 after full cage)

That weight savings from the interior parts alone is my exact body weight!

Now when I ride in your car, you can do an A and B run to see how much different the car feels/handles/performs with and without that interior weight.

I'll have pics of the wing installed on my car on Tuesday or Wednesday and I'll also weigh it. I'm not sure about the price yet, but it's somewhere in the $1300-1400 range (MSRP is $1450). It's not cheap, but it's the best quality wing you're going to find. Whatever I paid for it is what I'll sell it to you for. I'm not trying to make any money, I just need to get rid of the extra one.

You can see a pic of the wing itself (not installed on a car) here: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/attachme...8&d=1137923108

Thanks.

Gorgeous wing, but way out of my price range I look forward to seeing pics of it on the car.
