Well I just tested this on another system using a Pentium 4 3.2 ghz and it worked fine. Looks like Adobe premiere pro and or this camera doesn't like AMD CPU's. I have no idea why that would be, but I just ordered new parts and they should arrive tomorrow.

The new computer should work great for Adobe Premiere Pro and then I can get these videos done. Eventually we want the track videos to look something like this:

My guess is I won't have enough time to get something like that done tomorrow, but I should be able to do the PIP. I doubt I will have time to do the track map and lap timer, but we'll see .

If you can add a rear facing camera showing an elise 'TRYING' to keep up I think would be nice also. LOL

Can't wait to see some vids.

That rear facing camera would only be good for 1 or 2 turns after I passed an elise and then it would be wasted footage with nothing in the rear view . haha

The GT3's atleast last a full lap before I can shake them enough to no longer see them in the rear view (back more than 2 turns). That would make for some fun footage .

I need to find the footage of me getting absolutely destroyed by a GT3 Cup Car 2 track days ago. It was pretty scary how much faster that thing was. I did all of the work on my car to make it as fast as a GT3; then Porsche took a GT3 and did almost exactly the same things to make the Cup Car. NO FAIR! It was a good 6-8 seconds faster than a GT3 or my car around the track .

Then again, sometimes I think about what you could do to an STi with half a million dollars...

No more teasers! Enjoy:

http://videos.hspn.com/?videoid=16

The next track day we will have the camera mounted on the windshield and roll cage. For now we have footage shot by my passenger/videographer, Aaron. Good job keeping the camera as steady as you did. It's not easy holding a camera on a monopod doing over a G through turns and elevation changes!

Very nice! Very whistlely too

Glad you were finally able to get it edited. Do you think maybe the PIP camera would be more useful if it showed what your hands and feet were doing(stick and pedals)? Unless it is for personal reasons, there really isn't much to see watching you turn the wheel back and forth

We were pretty limited that day because we didn't have any mounts. We shot whatever could be shot by a passenger in the passenger seat. In the future we will have a foot cam as well as the gauges on the screen.

As for the whistling, we have some really nice microphone windscreens coming next week so that should be the end of the wind noise . I was very tempted to just close the windows because we didn't have any windscreens, but you can't for safety reasons.

Glad you liked it .

Sounds like you've got it all coming together Ben.

As for liking it, I thought it was awesome! I can't imagine how good it looks in it's uncompressed form. I would love to see the raw copy projected at 1080i on my 92" screen

It looks awesome in HD on my 53" at 1080i, I can't imagine what it would look like on a 92" . I just wish it was possible to stream at 800 megabytes per minute!

For those of you that can't think in megabytes, the TOTAL size of the 2+ minute video on HSPN is the same as ONE SECOND of the HD version. In other words, the HD version is about 130 times bigger than the compressed version.

When we get everything perfected we'll make some DVD's. Then you could see it on the big screen .

Put me on the waiting list.

Maybe it's time for me to upgrade my MiniDV track camera...

The end goal is to have 3 or 4 HD cameras so we can get:

1) Camera on the windshield / hood (view of the track / line)
2) Camera on the feet / hands (heel-toe / shifting)
3) Camera on the dash (speedo / tach)
4) Camera man outside at various turns (spectator perspective)

The next track day we'll see how the roll cage mounts work as well as the windscreen. It will take a few months to get everything perfect, but once we have it down the videos will come out as good or better than best motoring or any of those shows.
