^^^^

I am quite thankful for that.

I have always wondered what it would be like to go off track at speed.....Now I know.

I hope it will be the last.

Mike

I remember looking in my rear view mirror, seeing Mike, then going over Magic Mountain (one of the most dangerous turns at Buttonwillow) and then looking back in the rear view and just seeing a dust cloud. I continued looking back and never saw Mike. I was just hoping he went off BEFORE magic mountain, because I have never seen anyone walk away without a totalled car or serious injury when they went off there.

Luckily he went off a good 100-200 feet before the incline even started and walked away unhurt (both him and his car) and a bit dirty.

The first tire off the track was the left rear. I was almost completely around when I left the track. I too am very glad the car did not roll over. I have seen a Porsche Carrera 4S leave the track sideways and roll at Willow Springs. Very scarey.

This was the first time I have spun the STi on or off the track. Only my second spin ever on a track (couple years ago in a '97 SS Camaro).

Glad to hear nothing serious happened to you or the car Mike. Are the videos up anywhere Ben? I can never get enough of STi's racing.

I am downloading the software from Aaron now, I may get something up tonight.

As for the photos, I'm waiting for the photographer to send them. One of the guys that comes out to the track days is a professional photographer so I let him do his thing rather than snapping my own pics .

56K beware! These are drastically resized (6000 pixels to about 800) but are still very large:

I am still having problems capturing the footage from the camera. I have reinstalled Adobe Premiere 1.5.1 Pro twice, reinstalled the HD plugin, and many other things, and it still only will capture about 10 seconds of footage and then it gets all garbled. I am trying to figure out what the problem is and will have a video up ASAP. I may end up just installing it on one of my other computers but I would really like to get the mystery solved first if possible.

Enjoy the pics for now .

Awesome pictures, is that everyone that was at the track day?! How do you pull that off? For a day at VIR I pay like $425 and share it with about 75 of my closest friends.

Yes, that was everyone that was there.

I get a fairly good deal renting out Buttonwillow and Willow Springs as I've been doing it for several years, so it costs about $300-$325 for 12 guys.

What is interesting is you either have to have 10-14 guys, or 26+ at buttonwillow. If you have less than 14 you don't have to pay for track insurance, and if you have more than 14 it takes another 10 or 11 guys just to pay for the insurance and other extra fees before you break even.

I actually didn't take the pictures, but Andrew (owner of the Z8) took the pictures you are talking about from the flag tower. It's a good 6-7 feet or so off the ground.

You can actually see the flag tower right in the middle of the first picture . (just noticed that)
