Nevermind, I see you are getting them in 17's, like I thought.

I'm also hoping that the Enkei PRF1's will show up next week so I can get some tires on them before the track day on Thursday. I'll take pictures when they arrive.
haha, GREAT, a whole 6 pounds. I know, I know its a lot

I love those 15.9 Pound Enkei's...def get some pics up ASAP.

Man your car has been modded so systematically. I can't wait to see it in person. Congrats on all the safety gear, but hopefully you will never have to use it! It would be great if you went to pick up your groceries with a helmet and full racing suit haha.

I will actually be doing that for some HSPN commercials.

Man in full racing suit / helmet:

1) Eating at a restaurant
2) Shopping at the supermarket
3) Crossing a busy street
Etc..

HSPN - Changing the way enthusiasts think.

I haven't made a post in an entire TWO DAYS! Of course, this means it's time for some more useless numbers!

Rear seat bottom bar / support pieces: 11 lbs
Rear seat back vertical bars: 3.5 lbs

So, now that we have those numbers, let's do a recap of the interior thus far, before taking out the center console, front door panels, or stereo:

Remove spare tire: 33 lbs
Remove rear door panels: 6 lbs
Remove rear seat bottom: 10 lbs
Remove rear seat bottom bar & supports: 11 lbs
Remove rear seat back: 8 lbs
Remove rear seat back vertical bars: 3.5 lbs
Remove rear seat belts / deck lid / other plastic panels: 12.5 lbs
Remove front seat belts: 8 lbs
Remove all carpet: 5 lbs
Replace stock steering wheel with NRG quick release: 5 lbs
Replace stock seats with Recaro Pole Position (with steel sliders / brackets): 40 lbs

Total: 142 lbs from the interior (about half of the total weight saved which is currently around -325 lbs)

Also keep in mind that I didn't include the -21 lbs from the braille battery because I don't consider the engine bay the interior, where as the spare tire is in the trunk, which I consider the interior. Also, another easy 20 lbs (10 lbs per seat) could be saved if Recaro would ever send me the stupid aluminum sliders and seat brackets.

Either way, not bad! I am estimating 15 lbs from the stereo / speakers (might be high, we'll see) and about 12 lbs for the center console. Now when I say the center console I don't mean the top part with the double din and HVAC, I mean the area by the shifter and between the seats that has the cup holders and arm rest.

I will be at the track tomorrow so I won't have time to take more stuff out before then, but I'll shoot for doing it over the weekend .

BEN---

awesome recount here!!

you can now drive the car w/o adding any weight!! (like you're not even in the car!!lol)

thoughts on pulling the passenger SRS system?? (would it be too much of a 'one way' mod??)

what about the headliner and associated courtesy/dome lamps??

just curious..... i cant wait to see the final pics of the skeleton sti.

happy holidays to you.

Happy holidays ESE!

I don't think I'm going to take out the passenger air bag. I may take out the headliner and dome lamp and I'm definitely not done yet, but I've pretty much decided that the dash and A/C are going to say in.

I'll let you know what else gets taken out this weekend .

As far as taking my own weight out of the car goes, that was done a long time ago . The weight savings above was just the interior weight. Total weight savings was at about 300 lbs before the 110 lb roll cage went in. Right now the total weight savings with the cage is about 225 lbs, so the interior weight savings cancelled out the cage and then some .

Ben what truck/trailer combo do you use to trailer your "race/track" car to and from the track?

Any thoughts about installing the Spec-C roof vent for the hot track days and gut the a/c? I'm sure that would save you 50+lbs.

Right now I have managed to drive the car to the track... It's only a matter of time until I get a huge ticket or even arrested doing it, so I'll probably be getting a trailer soon.

I don't think a cop would be too amused with a roll cage, no cats, no seat belts, most of the air bags and interior missing, etc...lol

As for the A/C, it's 30 lbs. I was thinking about doing a roof scoop but I don't think I will. On the other hand, I never thought I would remove half the crap I already have so give me a few weeks and the A/C might be gone...who knows. If I did remove the A/C I don't think I would have any choice but to install the WRC-style FMIC .

I was wondering about that(thus my question ) The WRX wagon can only tow about 2000lbs right?

So the car is still registered and insured as a normal car? Does insurance know about it's "state"?

Also what are your thoughts/reasons for leaving the passenger air bag and A/C when the car is already to the point that it is?

Right now, nothing is "permanent" per say. The cage can come out, and there are no holes in the carpet. The interior can go back in easily, etc. etc.

The passenger air bag cannot be taken out very easily and it's a pain to put back in, same with the A/C. I do not drive the car on the street (besides to and from the track) so it really wouldn't be a big deal to take out the airbag and A/C. I just need to stop thinking about ever putting it back to stock, then it would make removing things much easier. Right now I have this stupid idea that if I ever wanted to return it to a normal condition I could...it won't be long until I don't care anymore I'm sure. When that happens, out will go the A/C and airbag .

I'm not sure what the WRX towing capacity is...it would be pretty funny to tow and STi with a WRX.

As far as insurance goes, it's still insured as a normal car so if I did get in an accident on the street it would be covered. State farm has some interesting rules about the track, and I do my best to abide by them. Every track event I ever run is called a driving "clinic" or "school" rather than a track day. I also make it clear before every track day that no racing is allowed, and that everyone is there to learn to be a safer and better driver, not to get a trophy.

Now, according to state farm, if I were to crash the car on the track it would be covered so long as it wasn't involved in an accident during a race. I do participate in time trials and time attack, but none are technically "races." I do plan to race in 2007 though, so when that happens the inssurance will be thrown out the window.

I am already getting the urge to tear out the A/C, airbag, & dash, and hollow out the doors. It hasn't even been 10 minutes yet; I thought it would take atleast a week before I started thinking about it again.

I hate you guys...
