They were slightly MORE comfortable than the stock STi seats going to and from the track. It's about 70 miles each way, so I was sitting in them for about an hour straight two times yesterday and was never uncomfortable. The stock STi seats would always make my lower back hurt and these didn't.

GOD DAMN Ben, your "race car" is becoming crazier every minute! I love it! Keep it up.

Here are some close-up pics of the calipers. I increased the brightness of the 3rd pic and made it look a little weird so you could see the brake pad better. As you can see, these brake pads are very meaty. That's after a full track day too!

Ben, what i love most about your car...is that it basically still looks stock. You could go to a porsche track day and suprise ALOT of people...lol. Even the bigger brakes still have a gold tone to them wich very easily resembles stock to the untrained eye. Nice work!

I just wanted to say that I just spent well over an hour reading this entire post, and I really like your car Ben. Obviously it has been said over and over, but you do a great job keeping us up to date, and explaining the advantages/disadvantages of your mods.

Thanks

Thanks very much to everyone for the kind comments. I love checking my e-mail and seeing stuff like this:

I need to go through one day and read the whole thing from start to finish too!

Swine -- I too like that the car basically looks stock. I'll lose that sleeper look soon once it gets all stickered up, but I am definitely enjoying it for now. I don't really get to fool anyone though, because everyone at the track days knows me and knows about my car. It would definitely be fun to roll up at a P.O.C. event and screw with some people though!

As far as the stickers go, we are thinking about doing something similar to the cusco car:

Imagine that tear pattern on the side with Silver & White instead of Silver & Red on a blue car, instead of the black car. It would say HSPN about where it says Cusco in that pic, and would have IWSTI near where it says Takata, but in bigger letters. It would also have the HSPN motto, "Changing the way enthusiasts think" where the cusco car has www.subaru-sti.co.jp.

It would also say www.HSPN.com on the top and www.IWSTI.com on the bottom of both the windshield and the rear window.

The other sponsors would be scattered about on the front door, fender, and hood, as well as the rear quarter panel, and wing.

The stock wheels are also going to come off next week. Enkei is sponsoring the car and 2 sets of the RPF1's (in 17x8 and 17x9) should be showing up soon.

I'm going to mount the HD camera we use to for the HSPN product reviews inside the car on the roll bar so I should be able to get some in-car footage next week at Buttonwillow .

Btw, I was looking at the pics of the calipers again and I just needed to point out that I took the pictures at sunset and it made the calipers look a little bit gold. This was just because of the lighting conditions and/or the reflection from the gold wheels. The calipers couldn't be more silver in reality:

So when are you going to lose the radio and air conditioning? Won't that save some weight as well?

And those brakes look awesome, very nice upgrade.

I can't quite part with the air conditioning just yet...but I will take out the stereo soon. The A/C is 30 lbs that I am willing to keep.

Somewhat off-topic, but we were talking about the Brake Man so...

Here are some videos of the Brake Man telling us about his rotors, calipers, and pads from SEMA last month:

Being the king of useless numbers, I have some more for you:

The stock head unit (cd-changer) is 6 lbs. I found the one from my wagon when I was putting stuff away and weighed it. I'll let you know how much the stock speakers weigh when I actually pull out the stereo next week . I'm going to make some kind of bracket so I can put the lap timer display where the stock head unit is currently.

I'm also hoping that the Enkei PRF1's will show up next week so I can get some tires on them before the track day on Thursday. I'll take pictures when they arrive.

You mean RPF1's? If so, I love those wheels, if I should say so myself. Although I'm sure you didn't get them in 19's considering you are the weight reduction king.
