It's not even my car, and I'm excited for it to get tuned!! It's gonna be a whole new animal.

Cobb stage 2 and one billionty pounds of reduced weight. It's somewhere in the long thread about him keepin up (maybe passing) a GT3 at the track with only a Cobb S2 and a car diet. (Sorry if I ruined the surprise on the tune, Ben).

EDIT:

Keep in mind that the car has nothing "power" wise besides an AccessPORT and a Cobb TBE. That alone made my day . Don't get me wrong, the CF drive shaft certainly has something to do with that, but it's mostly the reduction of drag from the stock wing and the several hundred pounds of weight loss.

Ben, i thought the trailer was going to be enclosed? not that i can say anything i have a HUGE 100% steel trailer (weights 2500lbs.. its a monster).

hmm, just make sure if the car stays on the trailer that you SECURE the trailer, they are not hard to steal and i would hate to see someone get away with that beauty!

Nope . As Mini996TT said, I've been running stage 2 all this time. Doug is tuning the car for 110 octane, so we're looking to get another 40whp with a very SAFE tune. While Doug could easily get more with 110 octane, this isn't a drag car, and the name of the game is reliability and consistency, not big numbers. Tuning a car for 30-60 minute sessions at the track versus 11 second sessions at the drag strip are two completely different things .

Anyway, we'll see what Doug's tune can do for my lap times. I won't be able to tell exactly what was Doug's tune and what was more weight loss, but we'll see what the combination of Doug's tune and removing the AC (~40 lbs) and the head lights (~15 lbs) does. I have a feeling that removing another 55 lbs from the front end is going to make a huge difference. Once those 55 lbs come off we'll be somewhere around 2860-2870 lbs, and with some more work (lighter glass, aluminum subframe, etc.) we'll get in to the low low 2800's. At some point I will probably take out the cage that is in right now and replace it with a lighter one as well and that would put it in the high 2700's.

I can tell you already, being in the low 2900's (about 400 lbs lighter than stock) completely transforms this car more than any turbo kit could ever do. I'm not going to say that a big turbo kit is completely out of the question later on down the road, but this car is so perfectly balanced right now it just doesn't need it. As it is, it pulls on the GT3's and F430's on the straights, and with Doug's tune and the additional weight loss, it should have no problem pulling the modified GT2's (right now it just keeps up as long as I'm drafting off them ).

The only car that is really giving me a run for my money at these track days is a GT3 RS Cup Car. He's doing a good 4-5 seconds faster lap times. With slicks (worth atleast 3 seconds), some more weight loss, and the protune, those 4-5 seconds may just be there. It's pretty amazing what Porsche did to the RS Cup Car's because they are a good 8-10 full seconds faster than the GT3. I was originally expecting to be able to keep up with it because I was running about 4 seconds faster than the modified GT3's (with various coilover setups and what not) and then he just totally blew all of our times away .

It was going to be, but things changed . Read about a page back and you'll find my final reasoning to go with the open trailer.

I definitely keep it secure, and I never leave the car on it, so it should be cool . If someone did steal the trailer it's covered on my auto insurance, so it's all good.

Ben, question: Can you tell me how great the TEIN SS-P Coilovers are? I know (if I remember correctly) that you have them in the car. Eventhough you are about 400 lbs lighter, will it have the same effect on my car? I was looking at the Cusco Zero 2R's, but I like the EDFC option with the TEIN SS-P. The Flexs I heard are really harsh, and not good for a daily driver. I drive my car everyday, going to be Auto-X'ing, and going on the road courses you do all the time. I want a really good setup. What do you think?

Also, may I request this: If you could, on the first post of your journal, make a complete list of all the things that you took off the car and its weight. So that people who plan on loosing some lbs from their STi's can go through the list and pick off things that they don't mind taking off their car? It would be really cool of you, if not I understand....again, thanks Ben for all the info! BTW, soon'ish I swear before the summer is over, I will get that intake fender!!!!

The trailer looks great! Can`t wait to see the results of the tune. How's your other beast doing, The Lariat? Did you get the EM for that yet?

From what you've described, the Tein SS-P's are the best coilover for you. I love them for the track, but I originally got them when this was a daily driver. They have a much better ride than stock and are some of the best performing coilovers I've ever used (besides the $10,000 motons).

I already have the list here: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/vbpicgal...hp?do=view&g=1

It has every mod and *almost* everything I've taken out of the car. I need to update the list, but it has most of the significant things listed.

Ohhh super quick question: I have the Cusco Ti Front Strut Brace. It didn't fit with the RCE Camber Plates. I am assuming that it will work fine with the TEIN SS-P Coilover system with the EDFC?!??!?!?!? Thats my last concern before I finish up paying the credit cards and pull the trigger on this system. THANKS AGAIN!

I have no way of knowing if it will fit, but I would assume it would. The RCE camber plates are a bit different than a traditional camber plate. Also, if it matters, TEIN doesn't even call them camber plates, they call them "pillow ball upper mounts" (thus the P in SS-P) but they are essentially camber plates.

We'll definitely have to do some vinyl on there...probably some IWSTI, HSPN, and Team RD big stickers on the rock guard and on the side .
