By a passenger in the passenger seat? Ouch. i think credit should be given when it is due!!! No love for the cameraman. Id like to see anybody else switch a wideangle lens in a 4 point harness while going through turns at 100+...

Nice work on the vid ben.

Awesome car, awesome driving, awesome video!!

About the whistling, it sounds exactly like the whistling I get from the rockblocker on my driver side mirror (anytime above 60mph). You've got rockblocker right, I doubt a windscreen on your mic will help that any..

Keep up the good work!

Alright gang, it's been a while since I've posted an update because I've been in Japan. I will be coming home on Sunday and some major changes will be taking place .

First on the list is the A/C. I don't know what the pool is up to by now, but those of you that guessed 2-3 weeks after I said I would "never" rip out the A/C win the bet. I should be cutting a hole in the roof and installing the Spec C Type RA hood vent / scoop and tearing out the AC next week. I am guessing the A/C weighs about 35 lbs, but we'll see. I have gotten to the point now where there is no turning back and/or I just plain don't care so that should make future updates much more interesting

Second on the list is the Spec C aluminum trunk and C-West carbon fiber GT II Type-S wing. I'll have the exact numbers in about 3 weeks, but I'm going to estimate that the aluminum trunk / carbon fiber wing combo will save another 20-25 lbs. The trunk should be painted this week but I won't have the wing for about 3 weeks. I was going to try to take it home with me but C-West didn't have any available and it will take 2 weeks to build one. I will post pictures of the wing once it's installed, but I must give a proper warning: Just like every other carbon fiber wing, it will look a bit ricey! I am more concerned with performance than looks, so it doesn't bother me .

I decided to go with the C-West GT II S wing because it is one of the few (if not the only) aftermarket wing that is wind tunnel tested. The wing should increase downforce slightly while reducing drag significantly (almost like completely removing the stock wing). In the little testing I did at Buttonwillow and Willow Springs, I saw a 4-5 mph increase on the straights with no rear trunk spoiler. The only down side to removing the wing was that the car would get fairly unstable through the high speed sweepers, resulting in a slightly slower over-all lap time even with the increased speed on the straights. The C-West wing will maintain (and slightly improve) the high speed corning stability while increasing straight line speeds. In other words, it's pretty much win-win.

I will also be installing a rally-style fender that has an intake duct next week. It will be painted the same day as the trunk.

Finally, the car should be vinyl wrapped by a company called OC Wrap in the next 2 weeks. I was hoping to do it sooner but the trip to Japan made timing difficult.

I will keep you updated and post pics as soon as they are available.

See you in a few days!

I am interested to see the wing. Does it have center fins like the rally style does?

You could always paint the carbon fiber wing too, to try to get away from the "rice" look.

Have a safe flight, looking forward to seeing the updates.

Here is a pic of the wing. The only difference is I got my posts/supports painted black rather than going with polished aluminum.

Painting it wouldn't help with the rice effect though . The rice comes more from the general style and height (almost roof level, being a GT wing), not the carbon fiber .
