That engine is just sick! Do you have a catch can and have you found a lot of oil in the catch can? What boost do you plan on running when its broken in, 30 psi?!

you can see the perrin catch can, second pic from the left, where the battery used to be. i haven't seen any oil in the clear hose. i'm going to guess the can itself is pretty clean yet.

30 (or so). i'm going to start raising the boost 1lb at a time to a max of about 22 or so until we get properly tuned.

i meant to take a picture of the eddie marine/optima battery mount in the trunk but we ran out of light. i'll post it tomorrow.

btw, it is broken in.

The whole car looks great Bruce, congrats, again on everything. I can't wait to see the final 1/4 times on this beast.

just out of curiousity, what IS the anticipated quarter mile time? is it still 11 seconds?? I would think that with this set-up Bruce has would be able to get a high 10 (or am i just too hopeful? )

if so, maybe 10 seconds be obtained with a ridicuously good 60 ft time and some other pure off-street equipment? (e.g. racing slicks, weight removal, etc?)

What do you plan on using on the drag strip Bruce? Are you planning to race it modified exactly how you drive it on the streets? (e.g. street tires etc?)

this is a competition combining dyno runs, overall horsepower, cost, drive ablity, comfort, lateral gs, lap times, and show events. It is a very complete competition and more than half those cars can go. This year there are two Evos, a STi, a Supra and a Skyline just to name a few big power guns there.

Nice car by the way, that thing is quite a beast and good luck with that.

given phil's best 11.3/129 with a bad launch and no wi, i'm pretty confident that it will do high 10's under the right conditions, with a trap speed of about 135. it's nice to dream. it's another to make it happen. btw, the car was nominated (and no one disagreed) as a candidated to be the first us sti to make it into the 10's on a nasioc thread. it doesn't suck to see your car mentioned in that context. i need lessons from rollie, though (isfh)

it will see some drag time to establish a time and show up mainly for sti/evo events exactly as is on the street. i'm planning on spending more time at places like limerock and watkins glen. eventually, i'd love to see it in a time-attack race. by day, it'll get me to wawa. gotta love it.

This is a really impressive looking set-up. I look forward to reading about what she can do at the drag strip. Good luck with it!

If you're serious about drag racing you'll need to upgrade things like driveshafts. or just drive it 'till they break, then change them.

Is Englishtown considered a fast or slow track?

Bruce,

I have just finshed building a setup similar to yours and had a few questions about tuning.

Setup:
2004 STi
Crawford R3 2.65L Sleeved
Hydra ECU from Phil
Ultimate racing rotated mount GT35R
Tial 44mm wastegate
Spearco TMIC
Alkycontrol high volume methanol injection with 16 gallon talk and two 14 gph nozzles
Worx Tuning BOV
XX tuning Headers
Ported Manifold
TGV deletes and heavily ported housings
Rebuilt head but not ported
Stock cams
Perrin Injectors
Walbro Pump
Koya capless Rad
Motul FM oil cooler
Two catch cans
Areomotive Fuel Pressure regulator
Spec stage 3 clutch
Blitz EBC
Optima Red Top

Now for tuning it, I have had problems with it running lean at idel/low load sites becuase it requires alot more fuel than Phils base map for a 2.65L. This may be because of the Ported intake manifold and TGV housings (or it may mean I hava a problem somewhere.) What AFR are you using for a target to tune idle/vaccum load sites. Phil has told me that he usually targets 14.7 in most cars, but has to target in the 12 range on cars that have head porting. I don't have head porting, but significant porting before the heads which I'm thinking my account for some of my problems.

Who much porting did you do the the TGV housings and did you port the outlet end of the intake manifold to match?

thanks

Jay

Glad you like the exhaust sound!

Also, there is an event at Englishtown on October 1st and 2nd as well as a few more left for the season. Do you think you'll be attending any of those?

Hey Bruce,

How about pictures of your roll cage and trunk battery box. Would really like to see those too. Thanks
