IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | i couldn't get to the shop early enough today. i went right to work trimming back the tip of each radiator fan blade ever so slightly so as not to send the unit out of balance. i then gave it a good bath and some zaino detailer and immediately took it out and set the rings. so far so good on the trimming. i had the oil changed for the first time with about 30 total miles on the build and installed the fugimoto oil drain. the suspension and motor seem in perfect harmony. i am having the time of my life wringing it out. the e-boost2 will remain at it's default setting for the time being. donmei is flying in to a local airstrip in his homebuilt airplane. i be picking him up at 2:30. it looks like he will be the first to take a ride in it besides me. 8:30pm - don was indeed the first passenger {{applauding}}. that's some plane he built! | STI Driver | bruce just picked me up at my store and took me for a ride. it pulls real hard for only 14psi. peaked at 15.4 or so on his digital gauge. install looks super nice, clean and profesh. cant wait to go for a ride when its tuned and running 23 or so psi. it should be insane. congratulations bruce! watch out for those troopers. peace -jed |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Well, I went for a ride in Bruces car today. I'm really impressed with how sorted it is considering that its only been running for a day. It started fine, after normal hydra cranking, idled great and pulled like crazy. Like statik said, all on less than stock boost. This thing is going to be a bear once he opens up the tap. Another thing that really impressed me was the suspension setup in Bruces car. It rides much smoother than stock, but corners better. Hmm. None of that STi "jiggly baby" bouncing. Just nice firm, well damped, and almost fluid. My plan is to take another ride up once the car has been tuned and broken in. Bruce said something about 30 psi !!! Bruce - thanks again, it was great to meet you. And keep working on that clutch and its 1/8" engagement band. Don |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | i can add a little more to the info that's in the signature: the kw variant3 coilovers and group n hardened tops currently have bump and rebound set in the middle range for now. camber is set -2.5 in the front and -2.0 back on stock tires and rims. the ride height is lowered but will be raised for the winter with a fresh set of blizzak lm-22's (although i hear there's a lm-25?. it's almost time to think about it). i'll grab a set of camber plates from myles when we change over for the winter. the cobb rear sway is set on soft with hotchkis endlinks all around. i'll probably wait until the spring to experiment with the sway bar setting but a driver school and some track time at limerock could change that. the biggest improvement in handling (from this current round of mods) is the addition of the gt spec subframe braces and ladder brace. the entire front of the car seems 100% locked in rock solid. a 6 point roll bar will add to that. it's hard to believe it could get better. i looked at the do luck brace but it did not look like it offered anywhere near the structural support of the more angular gt spec units. i was hoping that the higher hp wouldn't overwhelm the suspension and it does seem completely balanced at the current power level. of course, i'm running about 50% less boost than i will be in a couple weeks from now. |
