Do you not get along with ex-wife #3? That's a wild story.

I just spent a better part of my time off today to skim through this thread and it's been incredibly informative and enjoyable. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you this, but your car is downright amazing. You give me hope that I can still do this in 35 years (sorry, the abbreviation is your thing)

One question I do have though is why haven't you opted for the brakeman rotors or lighter wheels? Do you not buy into the reduced rotational weight theory (... law?)?

Wow crazy stories Bruce. I've alway's wanted to SkyDive I've had plenty of time slow downs myself. Mainly on motorcycle's, especially the time I flipped and ditched one. That was crazy, still remember it like yesterday.

i've got some motorcycle crash stories but i'll save them for later.

clypher: i'll get to lightening up the unsuspended weight eventually. it's hard to argue with my current brake set-up.

boostedrex: i'm sure we'll get together next season.

tech13: thanks, man

update:
the motor is in salt lake city and jeremy is at sema.

I've been reading about all the drama and the ups and down of your project and must say you have serious patients. Good luck with the new motor. Good things come to those who wait right? My build is on hold since I'm in flight school learning to fly Blackhawks so I have to live vicariously through the forum. Sucks.

p/s Time stopped for me mid way through a highside in turn one at Pueblo Motorsports Park in Colorado at 90+.

Good idea. Mine were unpleasant enough, but what can you expect when you mix youth, testosterone, and about 4,000 miles of racing in Baja? As my body, and now my doctors, remind me, "Those were not the days."

At least it's there. Always something, eh?

(mechanic has been slammed again, compression check coming - I'll let ya know.)

As a budding pilot and motorcycle rider, you know all too well there are 2 types of "oh s**t" moments: those where there is enough time to say it outloud, and those when there isn't. Try to avoid both.

Wiser words are seldom uttered. Those days were a while ago for me though. I'm 32 now with 12 years in the military (2 in Iraq) and a wife and little one so the self preservation thing has got it's grip on me for the most part (though you gotta be a little fatalistic to willingly fly something that only flys because God has a sense of humor). My highside was one of those times where words just didn't have a chance to form properly until about the third hour in the air before I hit the ground. Then there were a lot of small words which thankfully no small children or truck drivers heard. I gave up on the bike not long after that. Now I just cruise around in a meth junkie grocery getter.

I feel you. While only 28, I have 3 children and a wife. Funny that I still have to need to feel the rush, but I alway's think about the family first now. Sucks growing old doesn't it? But at least we find way's to keep the adrenaline going

you guys are depressing me with all this "old" talk...at 28? man, are you going to laugh when you are my age and i remind you that you were talking like that. let's see, in 26 years (the difference in our ages) i'll be...80 when we have that conversation. i bet i still feel younger than you guys then if you don't start resetting your mental thermostat now. if were life is as long as one full day, you wouldn't even be getting out of bed yet.

in a early discussion about age about 10 years ago, i told hilary who is 16 years younger (with a total deadpan), "when it comes time to consider a nursing home don't worry. i'll visit you all the time."

27 here with 2 children and a wife. Funny thing is when my oldest son was born (in FL IMA, PA sux) I hopped on my R1 2 weeks later, rode around the block, and then promptly sold my bike. Two years later and I still don't know if I would ride an R1 again, not with my 2 kids waiting at home and all the cages that don't pay attention.

Bruce-sorry for the hijack and best of luck with your kick a@@ project!!

Oh mentaly I'm still a kid at heart, and I plan to stay that way. I still do many stupid things. I just meant the older we get, the more we think about our actions before we do em. I'll be all means go hop on my bike and do a 150mph wheelie np. But I think about what would happen after the dear ran out in front of me first...

*Edit* Hit post before I meant too. Anyway, no I actually sold my bike and don't ride anymore. But still, I was just refering the feelings of thinking about actions more the older you get.
