the original poster of this nasioc thread just determined that his avcs timing issue was caused by his kelford cams - he was supplied with non avcs cams by mistake. his cams were missing the oil passage/relief holes that must be drilled to enable the avcs to work.

stay tuned. please don't speculate. we have no idea if there is any relationship to our situation.

update:

we have been unable to pursue this until today. i needed the car for business earlier this week. today is the day however. we should have the motor out by about 3pm. ricky has it down to 2hrs but it will be a couple hours before what is on his lift is off.

as i said a couple posts ago, we are going to work our way in, hopefully it's a hung-up intake cam gear but don't count on it. we have very good reason to believe the problem will only be solved when we get to the cams. if what we think is wrong is, you are going to be shocked by how absolutely stupid it is. how's that for a tease?<!-- / message -->

in all that excitement i almost forgot; phil is shipping hydramist to us shortly!
i also have local unlimited supply of 55 gallon drums of pure methanol.

update:

it's 5:15 pm now. the car that was on the lift is still there and it will continue to be there for the next couple hours. i will soon be faced with the decision to move forward tonight and not have enough time to get the car running (meaning it will be down for the weekend) or i can wait until monday and not have an answer before then. i'll decide when i have to.
