IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | update: the odometer just turned 50,400 miles. that's 2138 miles on the new motor in a little over two weeks. oil consumed so far is zero. it has seen almost every type of driving in the northeast; from rural back road to highway to nightmare bumper to bumper. while we were stuck on the 495 beltway in dc, ricky looked at me and said, if there is any question about the driveability of this car, we just answered it. we still have a bunch of stuff to sort out: - the stock driveshaft is going back in. the driveshaftshop shaft is going back for a re-balancing. - the cage and floorpan have to be cleaned up, sealed up and painted and the bottom of the car undercoated. - we still have some minor fuel leaks to track down. - the trunk needs another coat or two of paint. - the suspension and ride height need immediate attention. i have an alignment sched for tomorrow. - we've got some wiring issues to clean up ...and that pesky valve timing issue. i cancelled our registration for the patroon bmw club's driver's school at limerock on sept 23rd, although we might be able to squeeze in at the last minute. we still want to make the pa shootout on the 16th. we received a nice personal invitation to come and we will do our level best to make it. after getting the reprieve at the shootout in englishtown, we definately want to make it on oct 14th for that. i hope to start working on the valve timing issue this week. you will have an answer as soon as we do, which won't be for at least a week. meanwhile, i'm going to keep racking up the miles. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | Speaking of the driveability of the car how is that RPS "Max" 6-Puck clutch doing in all of those conditions. I will be installing this clutch in my car shortly which is also a daily driver so Im wondering how it was in the bumper to bumper traffic you went through around DC and all. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | the rps clutch takes some getting used to. pedal pressure is about the same as stock but it has a very narrow length of engagement - it's grabby. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | i just got back from an alignment. the ride height is still a bit too low because the front left lower perch looks like it needs replacing and he was afraid to raise it any higher. two others are also looking a bit ragged so we'll replace all four and raise the height when we do. the rce camber plates are set up. we have -2. camber in front at the moment and -1.5 in the back. everything else is zero'd. turn-in is pretty crisp (isfh). |
