thanks for all your support guys. if youre going to be stupid you better be tough, eh?

update:

here is the situation:
the bottom end is fine. the breakin was uneventful and the rings appear to be seated. it has used zero oil in over 1600 miles in 12 days. it was a gentle breakin, which is why i didn't see the power issue. i stayed off boost and below 4k rpms, except for two strategic no boost pulls to 5k rpm.

phil noticed the car was not making power during the road tune, even though the afrs, injector duty cycle and everything else relevant showed it should be making power. he immediately ruled out a bad wideband sensor. everything checked out. a few pulls on the dyno showed what he was seeing during the road tune. the motor is spooling slow and making half the power it should.

until this morning i had only been briefed by ricky who was there and i just spoke with phil a few minutes ago. the avcs is not kicking in. it could be a cam issue. it could be a stuck acvs gear. whatever it is, it is timing related. personally, i'm praying for a stuck avcs gear because it is the only possibility that doesn't mean pulling the motor again. after i spoke with phil, i contacted jeremy and the two of them just consulted by phone.

here is the plan:
we are going to pull the radiator and everything else we need to to get behind the timing cover. we're also doing leak down and compression tests. if it's the avcs system we will be back in business quickly. if everything checks out with the avcs, we will have to pull the motor and the process will take much longer.

i know that everyone following the thread will be pretty disappointed by the news. i feel your pain. you also know that i don't give up. i don't have it in me. never retreat in battle.

ricky has a few things to do before we can get the car back in. i will be driving cutn edg to englishtown for the shootout, hopefully in race vinyl (kevin has been working on it and i haven't spoke with him yet). i hope to see you all there. keep your chin up.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's just a stuck AVCS gear so you can get it back up and on the dyno ASAP.

If it's an AVCS issue, Englishtown is a possibility? Hoping for the best.

When you're on the "cuttin' edge", little things like this are the reality, not the exception.

Best of luck Bro. Be patient.

thanks, fly. no one is better suited to offer that piece of advice than you. there are a handful of mega performance projects that doing the r&d for an entire community. you have to take the bad with the good if youre going to be on the edge.

as far as the shootout goes, sniper, we'll be there for show but not for go.

update:

it was raining when i left for englishtown but i was determined to take a parking place in the pits if i was the only one standing out in the rain.
in the "sometimes it works out" category, the shootout got weathered out and the event was rescheduled for oct 14. how cool is that.

i had a great time meeting and hanging out with everyone who made it. it was a good turnout despite the weather and turned into a great meet. a bunch of us hit a local diner when the meet was called around 2:30pm.
