IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | project update: it was an interesting day. we found out over the weekend while mocking up the fuel system that the rc injectors we have are cut for a wrx tumbler and not an sti tumbler. i could try to explain how and why but it wouldn't be worth the effort. it was a simple miscue and rallysport, phil, rc and me teamed up to straighten out the mystery. bottom line, if you are using an rc 1000 injector on an sti stumbler you need to ask for a denso top and a bosch bottom that is unmodified because rc doesn't make an injector for our car yet. once we straightened out the confusion, rc agreed to make and then overnight a new set of injectors. they do have to be modified but we'll do it here to match each injector with it's port. i'll document the mod when we do it. we're expecting the new injectors on wed. rc is swapping them for the wrx injectors. my thanks to the cast: - phil supplied the info and clarified the confusion - rallysport supplied the negotiation - an rc tech by the name of carol helped clarify the confusion at their end i did what i do, i.e., coordinate this finely oiled neanderthal racing machine...we're doomed (isfh) we have a couple of questions to put to phil about adapting the bdl rails to those same sti tumblers but he wasn't available. so we put the fuel system aside to work on the cage. if you remember, i'm not going anywhere in the car until we can mount the harness to the cage, since my stock seatbelt system is just a distant memory. so, here are the latest cage pics: little ricky and bobby notching chromoly: ![]() the view behind the driver seat from the passenger side: ![]() the view from the driver side: ![]() we also plumbed up the exhaust system, including the downpipe. i added a 3rd layer thermo tech wrap to the downpipe before we installed it. tomorrow: ricky works on the cage while i help work the cross examination side of a deposition in the bronx. |
