Thats a great idea,

We should post something about that in the Northeast forum in the spring. Maybe something right on the river, like the Newburgh water front, lots of nice places to eat and drink, ex. Torches, Blue Martini, River Grill, Front St., and more .... That area should make for some good pictures.

well, i figured this would be the best place to explain my experiences with bruce's car.

so today i went up to check up on the beast. I caught up with bruce at the shop and then bruce, little ricky (his mechanic), and i went back to bruce's house for lunch. After lunch Bruce said i could take the car for a drive, and i sure as hell said yes. so, as predicited by bruce and ricky, i stalled the first time i tried to get the car going in first. That was only one of 2 times though. the clutch is not much heavier than the stocker if any. the thing was it was grabby, and the engagement point was different from my car.

so off we went. the first thing i noticed (after the clutch) was how well the car rode. Bruce's car has the KW ver. 3 coilovers and they were awesome. the car soaked up bumps better than mine did when it was stock, and the ride felt more firm.

Next was how drivable it was. if you drove the car normally you'd never know there was a monster under the hood. off boost the motor shined with it's low down torque, and on boost... well i think you have an idea.

after driving around for 5 or 10 minutes bruce says that he'll direct me up to his favorite mountain roads. i was pretty excited to see how the whole car would feel when you combined the suspension and power departments.

so we're on the way, and bruce's V1 goes crazy. i was already going about the speed limit, but i slowed down anyways and was going well under the limit as the cop passed. I didn't think much of it and kept going. i got to a stop sign a little down the road and asked bruce if i could adjust the seat a little. next thing i hear is the whine of the V1 again. ricky, who was in the back seat says, "yea that cop is coming back." oh crap. so bruce says go, and i make the turn from the stop sign the cop still following. i get to the next stop sign and make another turn back on the main road, and the light bar starting doing it's job. oh ****.

to wrap this story up the cop comes up asks for my license and wonders why i'm driving bruce's car. bruce says he was letting me drive it and that we're from a subaru owners club and what not. so the cop goes on, and after what seems like forever, says that he pulled me over because... i didn't use my turn signal after i stopped at the stop sign. well, bruce works his magic, and we drive away no ticket.

so, that was my first time getting pulled over and i'm glad it was with bruce . despite this, the car was still a blast to drive and is as fast as all hell (and thats only running 20 psi, when all is said and done it will be 32 psi). i just want to thank Bruce and Little Ricky for taking the time to hang out, they are a stand up bunch of guys.

sorry for the long post, and for those who are lazy b*stards:

CN's: Got to drive Bruce's car (which is a beast in all aspects). Got pulled over for... not using my turn signal. Bruce uses his magic and i drive off with no ticket.

(allow me to embellish a bit (isfh)

so, when the trooper throws on his lights we happen to be less than 100 yrds from my almostformerbrotherinlaw's house. he's a ny state econ trooper and we park in front of his driveway just in case we need additional support.

the trooper is a little twitchy but i know the guy from (skydiving) accident investigations at the ranch skydiving club. when he asks for the registration, i have it my fannypack along with my licensed handgun and i advise him of same. from that moment forward his attention and interest was completely focused on the gun. by the time he established my glock was legal he had long forgotten what he stopped us for in the first place which, btw, was a total pretense just to see what 3 guys in an sti were doing.

so let's summarize, shall we;
evil drives the beast
gets nailed on radar doing the speed limit
is pulled over on the pretense of failing to use a turn signal
the cop finds a loaded gun in the car and lets us go because of it
...just another day in recreational paradise, ladies and gentleman.

the moral of the story; be armed; be proud.

we'll get them this spring. if this thing doesn't see 11's i'm hanging myself from the dry cleaning hanger in the back seat. we could see 10's with it once i've got the full 32 psi and c16 &/or nitromethane inj.

if it turns out that i'm not talented enough to get it into the 10's i have a friend who will competing next year at englishtown in a "pro mod" ride (6 sec) who can.
