Phil is right on there Bruce. I went from Re070s to Re01Rs and have almost killed myself a couple times getting used to the Re01s. I could not believe your are tracking the same setup-that must be horifying!

not at all, cb. of course, i was only dealing with 400+ whp at summit. i've got alot to learn before the tires hold me back. this time next year will be a completely different story. i will endeavor to wear them out before then (isfh).

I can attest to the power slides though a few turns at summit. HOWEVER! Bruce, you DO NOT need sticky tires just yet. I'd wait for a while, since there is a lot more to learn on street tires.

Its the people the come to their first track events on hoosiers that always puzzle me. you learn so much more on street tires, and unless its a race car (like wheel to wheel race) there is no reason to be on slicks. Also, street tires are just more fun to track on. They are easy to drive, they overheat progressively, give a LOT of feedback, i mean really, why not drive on street tires.

i'm with you ross. as i said earlier, i was totally comfortable with the way the car is set up at summit, tires and all. i am holding the car back, not the other way around. besides being fun, the power slides were totally instructive. everyone has to remember, i only have one track day with this monster and two days total ever. you guys have no idea what a handful this car is at THIS power level. i don't need more power or more stick at this stage of the game. in skiing you'd be too generous to call me a hopeful intermediate. i'm a rank novice.

You could certainly make the case that a race car is nothing more than a, er, bigger "stick." Jeeze, if any of us actually used our frontal lobes instead of our reptilian brain stems, we wouldn't waste our time here...

You're gonna have your last little street blast with Cutn Edge, I presume, or are these new State regs already in place and being dutily enforced? Common...a few 550+whp jaunts down to the corner store for milk have to be in the plan, no?

the last real blast will be back from maryland. cops don't pay much attention to a temporary inspection sticker on an out of state registration, at least not until they actually stop you and maybe not even then. once i get to ny, i'm still in the same boat, i.e., they can't tell the temp inspection sticker in in date unless i'm stopped. ny le won't hestitate to issue a ticket on the spot.

the worse case scenario is, they not just issue an inspection ticket; they keep look underneath the car and keep going.

Sheesh...glad I live in Oregon. I guess it goes without saying that you have a very large incentive to not get stopped.

Yah I'm glad I'm in good old New Mexico. Your car would be totaly streetable without a second eye unless your doing something stupid.

Hell my jeep has no body, fenders, lights, bumpers, and the 40" tires stick out ahead and behind the frame, and I pull up next to and wave at cops frequently

upstate ny used to be like that until the pukes and bolsheviks from nyc and westchester migrated north.

It's all about knowing your car and it's limits on those tires. It's fairly simple to learn. Once you do that your golden. Race tires is nice because you can go all out into a turn with the right alignment spec's and the gonads.
