I think I paid 3200 for mine with ~70k miles on it. Put at least another 75k on it before a faltering fuel pump took its toll on the engine. It was already converted to 12V and was well cared for when I got it- not as messed up as I've heard some of them are. I put an 8' whip antenna on the rear bumper that would bend over on the highway so cars were scared to get too close. There was also a bottle opener hidden in the driver's side wheel well on the outside for car camping. I might have a picture of it around here somewhere I can post up later.

btw, I think I met you at Andrewtech after you had picked up the car a couple weeks ago. Good to finally find this thread so I can catch up on the back story.

yeah, those fuel injector pumps don't hold up to the new low sulfur deisel drink. i replaced mine with a rebuilt for about $450.(?). i think theyre 650. or so new. i'm still on 24v.

the windshield on mine was missing and the dash was fubar. i replaced both for about 400. the body and frame is completely cancer free. there is just some surface rust some of the body panels. i also threw a set of bilsteins on it.

Purely curiosity - I know it's not the point, but 3 years of track events in a stock STi would have been cheaper

I saw the car at Andrewtech a bunch of times - I hope I get to see it in motion one of these days!

you asked if it saw a track day. there it is. that's when our current problems with this motor manifested. it also saw a track day at limerock in a previous iteration but i figured you meant, lately. lol

i've got a thread on the gt-r purchase over in ot. i just learned something from someone who works for nissan that explains how i got the deal i got. he works for a dealership in ct where he says theyre getting 30k over.

ah...that makes a lot of sense. that not only explains his willingness to negotiate but it also explains why i had to choose exactly what i wanted right then and there before i left. i was his third car.

right place. right time. just enough slope to the forehead.

actually, rffg, i think we just stumbled on the secret to getting the best price on this thing.

on the first and second cars theyre going to get as much as they can but, when theyre down to that 3rd car, it becomes like a labor negotiation getting into the 12th hour; with more pressure on them to get it done. there is a limited number of cars that are being metered out to dealers with the highest markup these dealers have seen as one hell of an incentive to get them moving. i'm sure they can't get deeper into the limited inventory until they sell their initial 3 cars.

if i'm right, time it for the 3rd car and offer to split the difference on the msrp with them; or do even better if you can. dead pan your ass off.
