What about the rest of us?

Let's be perfectly honest...if we are here, we are open! And we are usually here until 8-9p.m. every night and almost all day Saturday... Sunday is strictly race-car day..but we are willing to help out a Suby owner in need!

That really stinks to have to go through all this again. I remember years ago I was welding in a baffel into an oil pan. I put the motor togather put it in the car and hooked everything up. The very last thing I did was put the dipstick in and it hit the baffel. I forgot to drill a hole for it to go all the way down into the oil pan. After all that work it had to come out again. I have been there before and you seem to be handeling this very well.

from your tuner himself:

Also the longer stroke puts more angle on the rod and therefore is tougher on the rod, crank, and bearings.
Ultimately it still boils down to oil pressure and for whatever reason the JDM cross drilled cranks can hold high oil pressure but the modified EJ257 cranks can barely hold 60 psi with the biggest pumps available.

I take it you don't feel like trying the cross drilled crank again with drilling smaller wholes this time.

Sorry to hear you have to pull the motor,

But it sounds like you looking it as an opportunity to "clean things up"

Seems to me its not all bad.

Best wishes!

P.S. I agree Howard and Brandi are nothing but top notch in my book!!

Haven't read all the threads, but any though of going dry sump?

Pretty sure you can set up whatever pressure you want with the proper pump, and a seperator tank to pull out the froth.

Here is a pretty good discussion on a similar problem

Engine & fuel engineering - GEROTOR pump, dry sump engine pressure problem

Maybe the moroso pan with the cosworth baffle? or maybe that is just overkill..

yeah, that was the first thing i thought of but from a cost and, especially, a time standpoint, our current plan is cheaper and faster and probably smarter for a dd. there is only one other dry sump setup that i am aware of and i have no interest in getting any more experimental than the project is already...at least for the time being (isfh).

black beauty: i'm not sure what we are doing for certain until we crack the motor and have a look. i have a number of components under consideration along with the 3 liter accusump. whatever the best combination of parts is for the overall effort we will do.
