IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | gt65 turbo oil inlet update well, if there has been any improvement with the .052 jet it is marginal at best. we're going to try a .035 nitrous jet next. i'll be away all this week at skydiving event (the "fantasy of flight" museum just outside orlando). ricky is going to order it on monday and we'll install it when i get back. if anyone in the orlando area would like to stop by to bs, send me a pm. IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | we held off on installing the rotors and fresh pagids because i had a lot of meat on the rotors and plenty of pad life left and it seem dumb to toss them at the time. that was then. the rotors will be going on in the next week or so when i do the snow tire swap, raise the ride height and get an winter alignment. when i do i'll take some pics then and post them up. i also want to get a shot of the bottom of the car posted as well (to show off the subframe bracing and other cool stuff down under). |

| Amateur STI Driver | I am BRAND new to this forum, infact this is my first post, i don't even own an STi, but i love the car, and will get one in the foreseeable future. This has been an incredibly awesome learning experience for me, i know a little about cars, but nowhere near the crazy stuff going on in this thread. I love it, and i will continue lurking. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | 4k update - "giving thanks for (element) tuning" the beast and i had a great time over thanksgiving. it started at the palisades mall meet. got to meet up with eatv8, evilsti7 and a bunch of old and new friends after stopping in on my way down to my folks in s. jersey. i had a tuning date scheduled with phil grabow down in md for friday morning. eatv8 was visiting his folks just a few miles away, so i picked him up on the way down to phil's house in md.; just above dc. how cool is that. the two of us had a great time shooting the s*** with phil in his dinning room. he just got back from the time attack trials where his car took 2nd place in the limited class; this after only doing one session. for the second session they turned the boost up to 34 lbs (!). at that level of power the car was hanging with the unlimited class which is distinguished from the limted class only by tires. unfortunately for phil, he had restricted the oil inlet twice by accident and the turbo fried after only one session. the element time attack car is on it's way back by carrier. we made a few adjustments to the car before getting in and heading to phil's favorite stretch. phil evened out/fine-tuned the base tune (it was pretty close) and we adjusted the boost up to 20lbs (i had been running on the turbosmart e-boost2 default setting of 1 bar since day 1). when we got the boost up to 20 lbs it started breaking up on the last 4th gear pull because the platinum plugs i have in are too short. nappa strikes again. we stopped at the local subaru dealer and i picked up a set of long reach ngk's. we drove home on the old plugs. it was running fine as long as we avoided wot. btw, i say "we" because eatv8 became the only forum member to drive it. we shared driving duty on the way back to n. jersey to drop him home. ...and speaking of turbo's...mine is coming out and we're sending it back to phil's distributor for an inspection and rebuild. there is no doubt that the turbo is the culprit in the oil consumption extravaganza. the .052 nitrous jet helped not one bit. we'd go smaller but i'm convinced it won't matter either. we'll probably pull the turbo and send it out in the next few weeks before i'm forced to buy oil stocks. next: i just returned from switching to a fresh set of blizzaks. we're going the hold off on the alignment and raising the ride height for the winter until next week. the blizzaks are great but i miss the re070's already. we're putting in the new plugs later today so i can take full advantage of that 20 lbs. ...did i mention 20 lbs. of boost? | dances with roads | So Bruce, you drive right through my backyard and don't tell me about it? Thanks buddy! (isfh) I was swamped with family foofoo anyway, until earlier today in fact. Would have made it worse to know that you were in the area and I was going to miss another chance to see the completed beast. Here's hoping you get the turbo back in time for some winter frolic. Did I mention that eatV8 is a lowdown dirty dog for having driven your car? (isfh too) |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | I see I am popular... LOL. An idea of power and tq this thing is making, I eased the clutch out in 1st then floored it... WHEEL SPIN (car broke sideways a little) I shift to 2nd... floor it... wheel spin most of the gear... WOW, this thing flies! Should be awesome once the plugs are in and can actually use gears 3-6 @ WOT (isfh) As Bruce said about the ecu pulling timing because of the plugs, you can really feel it building boost and starting to pull very hard as the ecu pulls timing and kills the fun. |

| S204 Racer | Hmmm, so it's the turbo seals, eh? Interesting...I'm driving up to PDXTuning in a couple of weeks and that's the first thing they want to test on mine. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
