You probably have air in your cooling system. It happens all the time, if you don't spend the proper 30min-1hour burping/filling new coolant in, or you have a leak in one of your coolant caps (seals/gaskets). That could cause you high oil temps as well.

in fact, it makes so much sense, i'm going to bag the first session tomorrow. sears is open at 8am. i'll be there when the doors open and do a flush and fill with water to get me through tomorrow. if i'm as lucky as i've been so far this trip, i'll make the 2nd session. i'll top it off with water wetter if the performance shop is open at summit.

in the "best laid plans" category:

sears isn't open til 10am. i'll be there when the doors open and then try to salvage the last two sessions. there is weather moving into frederick. i'll check the doppler radar at summit point before leaving.

Yup, I agree. Bruce I had the same problem last time I went to Limerock. My car started to heat up as well. It was an air blockage in the upper radiator hose. I had to massage it out while the res tank cap was open. You could see the bubbles come out. Then I kept refilling it up, starting it, massage it again. After awhile, the temp gauge on the stock gauge cluster was back in normal position! Good luck!!

thanks, chris.

they flushed the radiator and started the car. the temp went up to 190 - without the fckn fan coming on. all the connectors are plugged in. i'm betting there is a short from all the times the radiator and fan assembly have been removed and reinstalled from the engine swaps and most lately from the oil pump swap.

all i missed today (my birthday btw) was one session in the am. the weather is crapping out here and the hoff reports a light rain there about an hour ago with a forecast of violent thunderstorms in the area this afternoon. i'll be checking in with him again as soon as i know what's up here.

c16 update:

no one has c16 in the dc/gaithersburg area. actually, edwin at andrewtech was able to come with some last time, so i'm calling andrew first thing in the morning tomorrow.

meanwhile, a pm'd howard at ar fab because i know he's in the area and boostjunkie thought he'd have some and he does. he's open at 9:30 tomorrow but get this; he's willing to open early to accomodate me. how freakin cool is that.

so, here i sit, waiting for a sear's tech to fix the fan so i can continue on my odyssey tomorrow. if i head to over to howard it's an hour to get there and then another hour to phil's. i just have to show up with a car that won't overheat and some c16 by noon. what could be so hard, right?

thank god i'm a neanderthal with a gentle grade for a forehead.

Happy bday man. Good luck with the fan. Glad to see everything is working out for the most part.

If your going to try and get back to Phil's with c16 does that mean your going to get your full tune?

update:

the fans are coming on. the temp is staying around 175 in normal driving and climbing to 185+ when it is idling. there's no way of knowing what will happen during a prolonged high speed jaunt (or the dyno) but i'll have no trouble making it to howard in the morning. if nothing else, we'll pull the thermostat and i'll head over to phil's w the c16 in hand. i also need to check in with andrew if there is time to adj the rev lockout cable. ideally, i hit him before i get to phil but i have a pretty crowded itinerary in the am.

*Looks at the trunk pic again* Hmmmmm, I see NOS tank, battery, Fuel pump assembly, and meth injection kit. Damn thats like an atomic bomb's potential there!!
