I know, but my car didn't consume any before. Imagine if that crappy filter was the cause for loosing a QUART of oil

It felt good, but I couldn't really open it up due to traffic

I want to say it felt torquer, and I was hitting higher boost in 1st and 2nd than normal. It should get better as the ECU relearns my right foot

Wow, that oil filter tale really bites! But it's a good object lesson nevertheless; CHECK YOUR OIL, PEOPLE. And it's good that no harm came of it, beyond a little splash on the shield. If it were me I'd be on the phone to that dealership first thing Monday, and I'd be fuming.

Thanks man! You and a few others (you know who you are!) have been crucial inputs in my purchase decisions (don't worry though, I won't sue if anything goes wrong ).

I forgot to mention, we both went with 10w30 yesterday - me with the Amsoil 10w30 (Turbo Formulated, thanks Majin ) and Fabio with Mobil1 10w30. It was interesting to see the two pour - the Amsoil (cold, after sitting in my trunk all night) poured like honey, while the Mobil1 (room temp, roughly) was clearly more runny. Fabio went with M1 because it's known to be less thick, and he was worried 10w30 might be too thick for winter otherwise. It'll be interesting to see our combined results over the next few thousand miles

Yeah, Fabio was telling me yesterday that it's a good thing I am meticulous about checking my oil, or else I could have had some serious issues...running a quart low is no joke. The service manager at Hodges is a well known and respected member in the Subaru community (Hondaslayer on NASIOC). I will have to send him a PM...

Why was it surprising to me? Well, we've known about the defective white filters for a while (SOA Recalls new 15208AA09A Oil Filter). It's been official since 10/12/2005. I got my oil changed (by Hodges Subaru, a Dealer I trust!) on 11/23/2005, and they used the defective filter! It was well over one month after the recall!
The bulletin (not a recall) only covered the white oil filters that had batch numbers of F08, F09, and F10. Yours was F11. Still sucks though cuz I have a whole case of F11's. Doh!
