No need for air tools for sways. Unless you like to frivolously spend money

I got the wrench from Harbor Freight. It is not the best quality (obviously, it was $49) but I do not use it very often. Someday I'll get air, but not now. I like the feedback that a wrench gives me. Makes it harder for me to destroy things.

The Wrench:

Harbor Freight is a great source for tools you will rarely use and don't want to spend a ton on.

Though your $40 impact wrench sounds like a decent option, where'd you buy it? It has enough juice to do the springs?

Yeah, it'd sit at my parent's place... I'm on the fence, trying to decide if air tools will be useful to me in the long run. My mods are nearly done (to my originally planned level).

However, paying for install on springs/camber plates will cost almost as much as air tools and spring compressors, so that's the motivating factor.

You said you used a friend's air tools for the springs; will that impact wrench have enough juice to do the springs?

(I feel the same way, air tools are more likely to bust something if I'm not extra careful).

to clarify it- i used both air and my wrench for the spring install. this was done during a group install day, and i used the air to get the struts out, and then moved out of the garage. there I used the electric one to disassemble the strut and install the spring. I then used air to put them back on the car.

i did use my electric wrench to install camber bolts, and it did the job quite easily. if you are not planning on any more major work, don't waste the dough. if you might do a alk, new subframe... go for it.

here's a 100W inverter for $20
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=92707

i have it's little brother (60w) and it runs my laptop nicely. i'd go with this one (or one with more power) since I am sure the wrench uses more power than my laptop.

Add $10 and you can get 150W.
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=93095

they also have a "emergency" wrench that runs off of DC. 150ft-lbs claimed from this guy. Maybe worth it for track days.

someday when I have too much money I can spend it on nice tools that i rarely use. for now, i'll continue to buy cheap tools for that, and nice tools for everyday use.
