Default Re: nandanrp's 2005 OBP - Got a "meh" alignment, it'll work for now.

I should have known better than to think a regular old wheel/tire shop would know how to do a proper performance alignment, but for a lack of better (known) options, I went to Belle Tire.

They didn't even touch the camber plates the first time. So I had them redo it. They were nice enough to redo it, and didn't charge me more.

Cost $50, and you pay for what you get... It's decent (I think, please share your input) but I plan to get it realigned when I know of a shop that knows what they are doing a bit better.

Why is the SAI different on both sides by almost 2* you ask?

Because they didn't make my camber plates even, despite telling them to do so when I had them redo the alignment. I said "Max out the bolts, then make the plates equal, and fine-tune using the camber bolts to get it equal." He said "Normally plates are used for fine-tuning." I told him to make the plates equal.

(yes smartasses, I know it's 15 ft-lbs not ft/lbs, but I was in a hurry and just wanted to get the point across for the techs ).

And this is how she sits after settling and alignment (crappy pics with the point & shoot)...

I only drove it the 5 miles home (it's a work day still ) but it doesn't pull to the left like it did before, so that much is good... Still have to see what it feels like under some twisties.

BTW boony we got pretty close with the spring install, it was -0.4 camber on one side and -0.3 on the other side

EEEEEEKK..

I hate when alignment shops dont mess with SAI because "it's not a tire wearing spec"

AHHHHHH!!!

Good luck Mr. Nan.

How bad is it Steve?

And you're right, he was like "we don't align for SAI, we do it to camber, SAI is just a number. It doesn't affect tire wear or how the car drives."

Should be nice and understeery. They could've at least done you a favor and tried to remove the rear negative camber.

he's a moron, if you car starts pulling it's going to be b/c the SAI made your scrub radius's different on either side.

my SAI is in the 16s!

Go back and read the post Drew, I said exactly why the plates don't match...

I don't know how the lowering camber plate affects SAI, I think Steve said something about that...

What value are you looking at to say it should be understeery? SAI alone?

He said there was no rear bolts for camber adjustment, so how could he fix it

you need to go back with your plates equal and say you got an alignement there the other week and it feels like the toe is off and you want them to fix it and even out the camber left to right using only the bolts.

also, they may have not properly setup the machine to measure SAI correctly.

I'd rather just find a good shop to do it right.

Do you think there are factors other than the plates that are kicking the SAI out of spec?

don't even mention the plates. they have no business in your engine bay, so they won't look there.

Drew just covered it.

They are just lazy ****s.

And man, I complained once to them about my friends car. They said they would re-align it, but they were freakn dick faces about it.

Needless to say, I told my friend to take it somewhere else.
