Yeah the Cobb lever lets you set the pivot so high that the linkage will scrape that plate when you shift into 1st gear. Honestly I don't know why Subaru cut that plate in that shape in the first place Also, there's these two studs in that plate which have NO use (I cut em off ).

I like the tires. They are admittedly soft compared to the RE070s (hell, what isn't soft compared to those) but they are a good all-weather tire. Did great in snow/ice, and since we only had two sizable snow storms last year, they fit the bill perfectly since they still have some sporting premise to them. Your Neros are probably better in the dry, but the Contis are rated better for ice traction, which was why I went with the Contis.

I have that exact knob, and caress it every day *swoon* only "problem" with it, in the summer it gets hot, and in the winter it gets cold. But since its Alu, its nice and heavy and makes shifts much easier.

haha, i can see you with a dremel, going "i dont need these! "

yup, we dont get much ice here, so i think the nero's will do me just fine

Yea I am pretty lazy.

Glad you finally got it all installed. I want to get the TiC linkage bushings myself but I think they are a project for when I have a garage. I love the coating on the garage, that's going to be my first project when I get my new place.

I'm going to be switching to winter mode this weekend too, man am I going to miss the gold stockers too.

Oh and while I like the stock shifter knob a lot and don't plan on changing it, Spaze's Prodrive knob is pretty nice. Unfortunately I only go to drive his STi off a trailer instead of taking out for a little spin.

That's my parent's garage. I, too, have no garage; hell, I don't even have the space that I see in your curb pictures I have to drive home to Michigan every few weeks for the newest mod installs I love that garage though, if they got a heater it would be perfect. The epoxy coated floor is great, I can spill oil/antiseize/grease on it and not have to worry about clean up, it wipes right off

Yeah my car felt so loose/rubbery taking the 070s off. It did feel less harsh on bumps though

I read the Prodrive knob is lighter than stock Is that true? I prefer the stock knob myself, and would rather keep that, but that plastic shift pattern's rattle is ridiculous. Need to see if I can pop it off and re-glue it.

I remember you telling me you had to drive home for installs. Well once I get my place you're welcome to come install stuff, if you don't mine driving 10-12 hours.

Yea it always amazes me how noisy the RE070s are compared to my winter tires. I'll be able to use my cell phone in the car again!

I have no idea on the Prodrive knobs weight unfortunately. I just noticed Spaze had one and it was pretty nice.

I think it's more like 15 hours to VA

My tires aren't really quieter, they are just less harsh

I'll have to try my stock shift knob before I buy anything else...just hope I don't **** it up!

It's even further, I'm in MD. Google Maps says 10 hours from chi-town to where my new place will be, and my friend has done that trip a few times (on the way to his parent's place in Wisconsin and said it's a good 10 hours. And he did it in a Honda. Your STi should be able to do it in 6 hours flat.

If you screw up the stock knob you can always get the S204 one:

It's red!

I like the double-adjustable capability. I like the shorter shifts, and with all the bushings, I like how tight everything is. The Cobb SS itself isn't a tough install (it can be done without removing the linkage), the bushings are what take time and effort. I just combined everything

The only real downsides (livable, IMHO) are that the pivot point is higher so the shift effort increases marginally (but you get shorter throws ), and second that damn rattle I have due to the shift knob. I can fix #2, and I just have to get used to #1. So far I like the shift feel though!

Yes! Then it'll be red AND rattle! I'll try to fix the rattle first. I can see the new thread now "Help! How to remove super-glued thumb from shift knob?!"

Oh, and I don't speed like I used to, too many tickets in the past. V1 helps though

Thanks!
