It's confusing because I use the sigs to tell who posted...everyone rocking the same one makes it harder to read

Damn, it's been nearly two months since this thread saw any life...

Well, I converted most of my major posts into a new IWSTI blog, and I added a table of contents to the first post in this thread.

My new member blog: http://www.iwsti.com/blogs/nandanrp

Wow, nice car.. nothing beats a black car when its clean. A+

How do you like your Cobb Turboback? Loud, quiet? I'm contemplating between that and the Helix Turboback.

Thanks man!

I'm a huge advocate of the Cobb Turboback. My main reason to get it over the Helix is, the Helix might pinch your A/C drain line since the cat is further up the pipe than on the Cobb. Fitment with the Cobb was a non-issue, it fit REALLY well. Of course, if you go catless, I think either would be ok; the advantages with the Cobb DP are the excellent design of the cast bellmouth, and the wideband bung (so you don't have to tap your DP later if you choose to get a wideband O2 sensor). I don't know enough about the Helix, but I can say that you will get a quality piece with the Cobb Turboback.

I really like the sound, too. I needed something that wasn't excessively loud or droney because I do a lot of highway driving. Don't get me wrong, the exhaust isn't super quiet - it's deep and there's a noticable sound difference from stock, but frankly I've gotten used to it now and it sounds practically stock to me! There's no highway drone, which was a big bonus. It is one of the quieter exhausts when compared to the likes of an Invidia N1 or a Blitz Nur Spec, but I am very happy with the sound. Check out Saturn's video of the Cobb TBE, as well as GZA's - both give a decent representation.

The muffler fits better than stock - it tucks up really nicely under the rear bumper cutout and has a nice, subdued look. The tip is basically the same size as stock, and some people want more bling - I personally wanted less cop attention, so it worked out well.

And a few posts from other threads that show how much I like the turboback:

The fit is excellent; no worries of pinching the A/C drainline, scraping on odd bumps, etc. Cobb's engineering is very well done. People complain that TXS's "biggie" downpipe hangs low and scrapes sometimes...I can't attest to this though.

The Cobb muffler has a nice growl to it, but isn't overly obnoxious. This was important to me, as I do a lot of highway driving. It's deep and you can tell it's there, but there's no drone (people say it's about as loud as the Invidia G200, but the G200 drones...). People can definitely hear me coming though, and it barks when you get on the pedal.

The fit of the muffler was better than stock, in my opinion. It tucks up real nice under the bumper, whereas the stock CBE would hang lower. Also, it's a pretty "sleeper" tip...nicely finished with a mirror polish, but it's not big enough to get much cop attention. An RFL-Ti muffler will definitely get more glances.

Here's some pictures from my install: nandanrp's 2005 OBP - first update in 6 months, some new pictures

Hope that helps

Well, I'm a sucker for good deals, so when a used Eclipse AVN-5435 showed up in the classifieds, I ended up jumping on it. I also ordered an Eclipse iPC-106 iPod control unit from Crutchfield. So far, I really like the system...having navigation is really nice, the screen looks great, and I like the sound quality with the iPod. Since mine is a 2005 model HU, it can't control the iPod as well as the 2006 models (it controls the iPod through the Sirius menus, so it can only do forward/next/random play). Basically, you can't fast forward/rewind, and you can't scroll the song lists through the HU. The 2006 model Eclipse units, however, are capable of this (or so they say).

So, some pics:
