I do my homework, but it's always good to hear positive feedback from others. Thanks for the help!

So I've had this rattle for several thousand miles:

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
I don't think it's anything internal to the engine Fabio - it sounds like a loose heatshield. I've had the noise for several thousand miles (it's very faint), and my car drives strong, so I'm not too worried about it. Basically, if I'm stopped and rev the engine to about 3000 RPM and then let off, I can hear a rattle as the revs drop past 3000...basically sounds like an exhaust heat shield rattling as the revs drop. It doesn't get louder or faster as I accelerate, so I don't think it's internal - it only makes the rattle at one RPM (between 3-4k as I said earlier). I seem to hear it more when it's particularly cold out, as well.

Most importantly, my oil level is fine (I check about every time I get gas).

My guess is, if I take it in, they won't be able to reproduce it or find a problem. Just my guess, considering I've heard this rattle now and then for 4k miles...
I paid close attention to the noise last night when I drove to Madison. It's around 2500 RPMs, and I can only hear it at low speed (30 mph or less). It's very very faint after the car warms up. More apparent when I'm engine braking in 2nd. The car pulled hard into three digit speeds too, so I really think (and hope) it's not something internal.

I woke up at 5:45 this morning and got the car into the dealership early. I could hear the noise when the engine was cold (it was garaged last night though, so it warmed up fast). Of course, by the time I got there, the car was warm...and when I took the tech for a drive, I couldn't reproduce the sound loudly enough for him to hear

I asked him to humor me and check everything out anyways (I suggested it might be a heatshield). So they check (and I caught a glimpse of the guy lightly tapping the exhaust while it was on the lift...). I really hope they actually made sure it wasn't something internal to the engine (I don't think it was, but I'm taking precaution).

They come back and tell me that a heat shield might be rattling due to a broken spot weld. I asked the guy which pipe it was on, and he said something like "Right side, near the turbo" and I'm like "The downpipe?" and he replies "Well the tech didn't say exactly, but yes, that would be my guess."

So I've left my baby at the dealer to get welded up I hope they treat her right. And I further hope that this rattle goes away.

Oh, and I think I might have scraped the front end coming into the dealer (stupid valley-like entrance where you slant down first and then slant up, so your car is in a V shape ). I took it slow and angled, but it didn't seem to matter.

They said it should be ready this afternoon. Afternoon can't come soon enough, it's going to be a long day.

**UPDATE: Got the car back. Talked to the service manager and the tech who worked on the car. Apparently the compressor heatsheild had warped a little from heat and was touching...so they bent it back in place. I guess it's fixed...I couldn't get the rattle to happen again on my 3 mile drive back from the dealership. I'll keep an eye on it, but it seems to be ok now.

They also mysteriously put 5 miles on my car I'm going to just tell myself they were road testing, and that it was necessary...

Nope I asked the parts guy said it was the black one. I'll rip it open and make sure.

EDIT: I checked, it's the black filter, part number 15208AA100

w00t! Look what just came in the mail :

It feels like forever since I ordered it! However, I have decided I'm going to wait on stage one until I change my oil in a few weeks.

Fresh batch of Amsoil, some other goodies, and Cobb AccessPORT Stage 1 coming in March
