So...uhh...pretty much the next day (yesterday) I ended up buying a used Cobb Catback that I got a great deal on (thanks t1mmmy!).

I'm going to install it in May when I swap to my summer wheels. I've decided on going with a full Cobb Turboback (catted), but I won't be buying the downpipe for a while.

Well, so much for keeping that a secret until I got it, lol. I'm still looking forward to meeting you guys at some point though, Andrew, so let me know when you're in the neighborhood! (or I'll see you at Gingerman, maybe ). Here are the pics which Tim sent me, without further delay:

lol, thanks Andrew! Yeah looks like the mod bug has bit!

I've wanted more sound from day one, but the cash didn't really start coming in until a little while ago (I'm still strapped, believe me, but I'm having fun with the little amount I can save ).

You're going to be stoked with the Cobb. Cobb TBE sounds and performs great. It's also not a "Hey officer, look at me" exhaust.

That's actually kind of what made up my mind (that, and jsh139 sold me on it by sending me links to videos ). I like other exhausts (Invidia G200 was high on the list) but I was worried that a large can like that would catch attention from cops. I haven't been pulled over in the STi yet (knock on wood!) so with a stock-looking tip like the Cobb, I hope it stays that way

Haha, I kid you not man, the day after I said "I dunno if I want the Cobb CBE" I bought it . Soon enough I'll buy a DP and I'll be pimpin the full Cobb Turboback. Maybe I'll become a Super Mod that day as well lol

The quality looks great! I'm really looking forward to getting it on the car, I've been craving the deep rumble for months!

Haha and ditto for me with the Genome! If I like yours more, I'll just tell myself I couldn't have lived with the 2.5" piping

The bad news, of course, is that I won't have this on my car until the beginning of May. I'll be storing the stock catback at my parents' place, and so I'll be swapping it when I change to my summer tires. April's gonna be a long month

Look what came at lunch:

I opened the box and just laughed my ass off at the packing job. It was WELL done, literally 3/4 of the box was filled with packing peanuts

There was one tear in the side of the box but I don't think any damage was done. I still haven't gotten the bubble wrap off (had to get back to the office).

This was left on the floor after I managed to yank the muffler out of the box (It DIDN'T want to come out...I broke a sweat yanking that fcker out!):

And my feeble attempt to clean it up

My Rebel is in Chicago or else I wouldn't be posting crappy phone pictures

So the weekend of May 5th I will be taking a few days off from work, driving back home to my parent's place, and I have the following planned:

1. Get the winter wheels off. Scrub them down (along with the goldies) and apply two coats of wheel wax to each wheel.
2. Get the Brembos waxed as well while the car is up on stands.
3. Get the Goldies on the car
4. Get the Cobb catback swapped in, store the stocker in my parent's attic.
5. Get the Defis installed.
6. (Time permitting ) Give the car a good polish and wax.

It's going to be a back-breaking weekend but I'm looking forward to it! Reminds me, I need to buy a torque wrench...

Oh, and I have to wait until May because I don't have tools and a means to work on the car downtown...and so I'll take time and do it in MI.

My wallet needs a rest period BADLY

I can't wait for the day I change my sig to read "Cobb Catted Turboback"

Knowing me I'll jump the gun and do it sooner than I'd like, but I don't think it'll be happening too soon here
