Nah, the roads are dry. If it does snow and accumulate Im going to borrow my (retired) dad's SUV until it's dry again. I dont feel like dropping another $1500 right now for wheels+snow tires only to use them for 2 weeks until it warms up

Just so you know man, it doesn't have to accumulate to cause you serious trouble. If you get caught in even a light snow with the stock rubber, you will be in a world of hurt. No flaming, just don't want to see another wrecked 05 for the same stupid reason.

Nah, I got caught when it started snowing once (went from 1C dry roads to -8C and snowing) and the tires were fine. You just have to drive more carefully. These tires are fine in the dry right up to -15C, though they are like bricks. But I'm definitely picking up snows this year.

What you don't want to get caught in with these tires is cold wet roads that may be icy. I completely avoid that all together. Avoid snow covered roads as well. Roads with no accumulation are safe to a point but I try to avoid that too.

Congrats - the best color

I got caught in a freak snow storm on stocks last week, and the car handles fine. It was coming down hard but there was no real accumulation, just slick wet roads. I had to drive very carefully but the car was planted even on the stocks.

I have found if the road is wet the car is fine on stocks.
If there is accumulation or ice then you are in trouble.

I'm not condoning driving in the winter on stocks, and still highly suggest a set of winter tires.

I just swapped back too early :-?

There was an STi around where I live that wrecked due to the season's first rain. Winter treads all year in Nor Cal if you ask me...
