IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I wanted to thank all of you for your help. I have deen monitoring this site for a few months in my search for an STI. I just had a hard time separating myself from my Hemi Ram. I have learned much from all of you and you helped out tramendously during my search. I decided against an 04 and found an 05 Black STI with 2,800 miles at a BMW dealer. Silver wheels, New rear trunk without the spoiler. It drives like a dream. I am so excited. Paid $27300. You will be seeing much more of me in the future. Thanks again L8r Mike... 8) This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I will get pics up ASAP. I am sure I will be flooding the site with some stupid newbie questions. I actually have a few now if you guys don't mind... 1. I noticed that the STI has a front strut bar installed. Is this stock or added on? It is a factory Subie part. 2. Is there any easy way to find out if the short throw shifter kit is installed? It felt pretty short when I drove it but not sure. Dealer is a BMW/Mini dealer and has no clue. 3. Rear trunck was replaced (spoiler delete) and it flys open hard enough to break a jaw. I am assuming the previous owner didn't swap springs. 4. Is a boost guage easy to install? Can I do it myself? Should I go factory or aftermarket? I kinda like the steering column mount. 5. Will 16" rims fit over the Brembos? I need some snow shoes and the extra rubber may help with all the NY potholes. Thanks all wise ones, Mike. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | One more thing. On the front fog light covers, the STI logo decal like the one in bah14's avitar above are removed. I would like to get replacements. Any ideas where to get them besides the dealer. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 Trader Rating: (4) | 1. It was an add-on. A front strut bar does not come from the factory on that STi. Nothing wrong with having one tho ;-) 2. I've never seen the standard factory shifter, so i cannot tell you how to check this. I'd say it's a good idea to start a relationship with your local subi dealer and have them take a peak. But I'm sure the next person to reply will be able to tell you how you can find out on you own. 3. LOL Yea, the stock springs are still there. Not a "safe" idea to leave the original ones there. I'd fear the day i forgot to move back when opening it. Not to mention anyone else. 4. Yes. Yes. Yes, b/c the stock doesn't read in PSI which many find annoying. You should be able to find a good steering column mount for a boost guage. Try looking for brand names like "Autometer" and "Lotek". 5. I'd have to say no to this one. I've never heard of anyone going less than the oem 17". You best bet is to grab a set of Rota wheels and a good set of winter shoes like Blizzacks, etc. Cheers, Brett |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Got it yesterday. Love it! I may not miss the ram after all. I will post picks ASAP. I want a boost guage though. Can you guys recommend a manufacturer for a guage that matches the interior with a psi reading and part numbers for what I will need to install it. thanks. :P |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2004 Trader Rating: (4) | most people would say the best gauges around are defi bf ambers one's, they match the interior perfectly, but they don't read in psi. You'll get used to the other conversion real though, don't worry about it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | They seem like a lot of money though. Over $300 for a gauge (with the mandatory controller). I guess you get what you pay for. They do seem really nice. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | I am looking at the Omori ones J-Spec tuning told me $495 shipped to Hawaii and my friend has them and I like them and they match also but cost a little less and just as good. And the trunk wanting to kill somebody is why I put my stock trunk back on so now I have a spoilerless trunk in my storage closet. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 Trader Rating: (4) | I'll second that. The Omori gauge are a pretty close match. Hard to beat the defi's tho. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
