I had a lot of fitment issues with the Full Race Stuff. The Uppipe sits entirely too close to the firewall. There is a lot of room to move it foward. Why they didnt do that i could not tell you. I chose making a custom downpipe which actually turned out a lot better simply because it fits Perfectly. However, it barely clears the firewall and well...there just wasnt much room to play around with. It took my mechanic quite a while to get it to fit the way it does. I have no idea how full race's downpipe would fit in there because from the pictures and looking at my car i can guarentee that it would not fit on my car.

I also had issues finding studs for the uppipe. One would thing that if a company does not supply studs for their uppipe that they would use OEM studs. That was not the case and it took me a few trips to my friends shop to find a nice set of hardend exhaust studs to fit into the uppipe.

All in all the quality of their stuff is really great...but the fitment could have been better and i wish they offered some studs/bolts with their setup. For what we paid for it, they damn well should have.

I cant wait to see how the header and uppipe performs though, now that its all set up and all my frustrations are gone.

shoot me a PM if you have any more questions. If ya need, i can take some pictures for you on tuesday.

-Greg

Quick Update...

All the I/C Pipes are finished. Stainless Power Steering Lines are in, and everything is ready to go. All i need to get is a new alternator belt, and im waiting on my intake manifold/tgv's and ported throttlebody to come back from getting a nice grimmspeed coating. Cant wait...its going to be awsome.

I also ordered some BC Rear camber plates to give myself some extra clearence between the rear tires and coilovers as they are practically rubbing... Also spoke to BC about my front coilover freezing issue and they will be sending me two new replacement front coilovers.

Alex at 10th Street JDM is also finished with some interior goodies so that will be getting installed again soon.

Hopefully by the time i get the car back the car will be lowered to where i really want it to be, and i wont be dealing with any rubbing issues or anything like that.

I would love to have an 8500-9000 redline. Do you think that the stock crankshaft will be reliable with that high rpm?

If all goes as planned, i'll be having ron at axis (now RAW 1) building the motor with his modified stock crankshaft. After speaking with PnL for a little bit I will be doing a setup much like the setup they have posted in the power bragging section.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AMG,

All the custom fabbed stuff is DONE.... FINALLY. Once the intake manifold/tgv's and ported throttle body get back from getting a thermal coating @ grimmspeed, i'll be cleaning up the car and take pictures of EVERYTHING...so i'll have a ton of interior pictures to post up as well.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SCBY REX,

I was not even aware BW had a SS exhaust housing in a .85 ar, twinscroll t3 setup. I guess i gota look into that now =)

As for price it really was not that bad. I have a buddy with a good relationship with BW so i got the turbo pretty cheap.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Harlan Pepper (from best in show????)

The turbo is on the heavier side of things. It probably weighs about 30lbs. If i remember correctly the shipping weight was around 33lbs total, with some other stuff in the box. In light of this my shop fabbed up a bracket to help support some of the weight. In terms of the entire car, I am really not sure anymore. I'll be at English Town (NJ) in september for Evo vs. WRX day so hopefully i can weight it there.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Valetudospang,

Sorry for not replying to your post sooner. The BW S258 would be compared to something in between a gt3076 an gt35r turbo. It has a 58 lb/min wheel where the 30r has a 52 lb/min wheel and the 35r has a 65 lb/min wheel. So somewhere in between would be my best guess.

Just got 2 quick pictures from my mechanic. I'C Pipes are almost Done. a few more minor tweaks and we should be ready to go. We will be cleaning up a few things before they are clamped in for good, but thats a general idea about how the piping will be run. Pretty simple.

Time to clean up my enginebay and get the car running!

OK, so i kinda lied in my thread title but the car runs and will be tuned on thursday for low boost.

Only missing a few things:
-Larger Crank Case Breather Hose (picking one up tomorrow)
-Assorted T-Fittings (for breather and boost controller/boost gauge)
-New SS Oil Feed Line (Wanted to make it a little longer)
-Heat-shielding for Passenger Side Grommet and Transmission Harness

All these items will be purchased and installed tomorrow and thursday before the tune. Cant wait!

****Note**** When the motor comes out in the winter, the entire firewall will be covered in gold heat shield foil, the intake, intercooler pipes, turbo, downpipe, dump tubes, and alternator will be heatcoated black to match the intake manifold by the awsome guys at grimmspeed.

Default Re: Greg's 2006 SGM STI (9/20): Cars Back... And Issues Already (Just My Luck)

9/20/2008

So i picked up the car after tuning on thursday and let me say that this thing is a complete animal. Its tuned at 16psi for a breakin, and spins the tires all the way through 1st gear. Its great. Right now i'm seeling 16psi at around 3000rpm's so its not bad for a turbo that is almost the size of a 35r w/ a large exhaust side.

Driving the car for the last few days, i noticed today that there was a little puddle of oil under my passanger fender liner. After some inspection i realized that it was dripping out of my cold air intake.

After speaking to Dave at MSPT i pulled off the intake to find oil everhwere in the compressor side and intake, and a decent amount of shaft play. Fins were touching the compressor housing. Needless to say, the turbo is done. Car will be going back to the shop monday to pull the turbo and see whats up.

I'll also be doing a compression and leakdown test just to be safe, and i will go from there. I'm going to try to get the turbo warentied (only 150 miles on it). If not i'll be picking up a Percision 35r w/ anti surge and either a .78 twinscroll hotside or a 1.06 if i can find it.
