Boost gauge. I modified my old Subiegal pod to fit the dash.

The screw heads are too big, and bulges the fender trim a bit. Same thing for the skirt. The top one especially causes the flap to not follow the contour of the fender. I can either use a flatter head, or add a washer behind the top mount to bring it level.

300 mile impression

Well, I drove the car and hit the 300mile point (yes, I only drive it to work...)
Averaging about 21mpg. Hopefully, it will get better after the first oil change.
Gotten used to the 6speed and heel-toe. Still a bit iffy on the heel-toe, but getting better at the "half-foot" throttle blipping.

The transmission is much smoother than the old 5spd. pretty satisfied with the feel, but deciding if I should get some Kartboy bushings.

Maybe it is not so because of the break-in period, but the engine feels weak below 3000rpm. Right after that, the surge comes with a little below 15psi, and the thing just wants to take off. This is especially evident on 4th, 5th and 6th. My old stage 2 06 wrx had so much power from 2K. This is probably due to the smaller turbo. Hopefully, an AP will fix this issue.

The interior is much nicer than before, but I personally liked the soft vinyl matrial used on the older models. The new hard plastic dash is very easy to scratch or leave white marks on.

Overall, this car is great. I can't wait to reach 10K miles since my old wrx really came alive after that.

I did the intake silencer mod, courtesy of using the pipe cap method by jessej. I can hear the turbo spool better now
Also did DRL cut while being down there as well. Looking better!

Congratulations - beautiful car! (I have the same ssm w/bbs) The Omori fits nicely. I was thinking it would be a pain to install, but then noticed you routed it over the dash not through. Looks great.

Thanks guys!

I thought of drilling into the a-pillar to route the hose, but wanted to keep clear from the airbag stuff.

The t-fitting that came with the omori gauge is a small compared to the hoses used on the factory bov. I need a t-fitting with a restrictor and came across this:
Boost Gauge Installation Fitting Kit : BoostController.com LLC - America's Source for High quality turbo boost controllers, silicone hose, and more performance products - 877-836-6155- precision boost control - manual boost controllers, electronic bo

Think this is good or you guys know of something better?

btw, I ordered the new HotVersion vol.92 with another STi vs EVOX highlight. There was the normal one, gymkhana tune, and a tuner's battle. The STi held really well against the evo, and won overall. The gymkhana version had some wicked setups. Great vid.

Don't mind the jibberish ^^!

ordered from amazon japan.

Sounds exactly right.. The heel-toe thing is killing me, too

The engine feel reminds me a lot more of my old wrx (esp. the stock mapping) than I thought it would, too.. especially the boost lag below 3000.. Have you been driving in S# mode much, though? I call that the "fun button" try it and see if you don't notice somewhat of a difference in the feel of the engine

There is a notable diff between S and S#. My MPG does not really change, so I just keep it in S# all the time now. Keeping it below 4K is hard lol.

777mile impression

Almost to the 1K mark. Slowly starting to creep it past 4K. The turbo kicks in later than the WRX, and very painful to stop the engine right when it hits the sweet spot.

Got my first rock chip on my WINDSHEILD. Kinda ticked me off, but it was bound to happen. Good thing it wasn't a huge one. The brembos dust like crazy and the BBS is a pain to clean. But thanks to the mudflaps, there ain't much grime on the door panels.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but the clutch that felt light is becoming more heavy these days. The clutch engage is getting smoother now, and heel-toe is getting easier to do. The only draw back is that I can only do it on these old tennis shoes. With other shoes, I either totally miss the throttle, or gas too much. Oh well.

My mileage is around 21-22. I honestly cannot tell the difference in mpg in I mode or S#. Having a boost gauge really helps you to keep the car in gear w/o using boost. 6th is a no no for even slight uphill, where the boost will start building. downing it to 5th @3K is better since the boost will stay below 0psi. Old school monitoring still works

Can't wait for the first oil change, and then unleashing the car's potential! Next report at 1K.

1111mile report.

Did my oil change with a 5W-30 dino oil. Changed the map to Perrin stage1. Set the rev light to 6K.

Finally got to rev up to where it loves to be, and she's going good! Well, I normally don't drive like a lead foot, so having that power when I need it is awesome. I grinded the screw heads for the RA mudflaps, and that unnatural bulging of the fender/sideskirt went away. The transmission feels even better. It is like very forgiving, but grabs hard when you need it... that kinda doesn't make sense, but it's all good.

Next step is probably stage2 using the cobb DP using the stock catback, and maybe some sway bars. Hoping to see front sway bars that doesn't give that extreme angle on the endlinks.
