Default My first foray into Subaru world...

Well, I figured that if I'm getting a Subie, I may as well go whole-hog as it were and grab the STi. Got it last Friday and so far I've been extremely happy with it. Just can't wait to get past the 1k break in period so I can drive it properly. As for vehicles, they're somewhat of a hobby of mine. A couple of the more unique vehicles I've had include a CRX, VW Thing, BMW, and currently an Alfa Romeo Spider (which is in absolute blast, not fast at all, but extremely fun). The current "project vehicle" is a 1983 Mercedes 300SD diesel ("the fuel of satan" as it were) which is being converted for a run in the 24 Hours of Lemons.

As for the new STi, I've only done a few things to it. Used some "gutter guard" to give the IC some protection. Got the cheap version of the Rally Armor mud flaps. I'll probably be dropping in an OEM size K&N filter. Other then that I'm pretty damn happy with the car and don't really feel the need to futz with it *yet* :-)

Anyway, here are some pics (please excuse the lack of color correction)...

Good to be here :-)

Eric

Was wondering how you like the rally armor? Thinking about getting a set, either basic or UR, but not sure if it looked good on the silver. Can you post some more pics? THANKS!!!

They seem to be keeping the crud off the car nicely. I just got the basic ones as I couldn't stomach dropping $134 for the UR ones.

Nice car you have there! If I were you I would throw down and get a Cobb AP, I know you just got your car but you thought your car is fun now... Just wait until you go stage 1.

Been on the wagon since 03, I will most likely own a subie forever. The 04 is not going anywhere =D

I agree. I just installed the AP yesterday and it is a completely different beast (The car Subaru should have released). Just wait until you're done with your break-in because I cant keep my foot off the floor with just the stage 1 AP map.

Congrats on the STi.

I keep reading loads about the Cobb AP, it's definitely intriguing and I'll probably grab one later this year. As for the dealer, Fairway Subaru in Hazleton, PA.

^^^ congrats dude! the silver makes me think of bullet all the time as everyone else pointed out, get the access port either cobb or perrin and you're smile will get even wider! (i have a case of permagrinn )

you may also want to consider a non oiled alternative to the oiled k&n. as i learned , the maf located behind the oil air filter will get dirty and cause issues down the road.

Thanks for the tip on the filter. Wasn't aware that that would cause problems with the air sensor.

Thanks Much :-)

Ok, I'm a bad person. I hadda disregard the break in rule for about 10 minutes today on some twisties. Good god does that car handle, brake, & accelerate like an absolute demon. I love it! I set the VDC to "traction" and it does indeed allow you to push it a bit harder then in normal mode... Anyway, just wanted to share with the group.

Also, I pulled the intake resonator/silencer thingy. Gives it a much nicer growl under throttle. If you've not removed yours, do it... Go, do it now :-)
