Default Updates!

Guys,

We started working on this bad boy. We ripped down the motor and the vehicle to the bare minimum. And threw in some extras. The pictures explain it all.

what do you do to the exedy clutch that's already balanced at 13,000 rpms?

Can you flip those pistons upside down and take a pic? (new vs. old) I'd like to see the webbing difference.

And why are you tearing apart a sleeved built motor with a billet crank?

They rebalance the clutch so that it will work correctly with the counter weight on a crankshaft, rods and pistons design and harmonic balancer. It is the first start of a blueprint job.

In other words if your really making high horsepower numbers and dont do this, i guarentee you a rod and main bearing failure. You will be surprised at the performance difference!!!

I made sure when AMR put my clutch in my STi that they rebalanced the clutch to my engine design so I would have no failures.

Ask ROB at Auto Master if im wrong.. Im sure he will agree with me!!!

I thought that was only for externally balanced engines?

Just because a motor is sleeved and equipped with a billet crank does not mean it was assembled properly. It takes alot of machining to to make 1000hp not just a billet crank and sleeved block

That still doesn't answer my question. What was the reason for the teardown? What more "machine" work is necessary unless the previous build was using improper clearances for designed purposes.

That piston looks oversized? Is it a 102mm? By the looks of the old piston, it had some pretty loose piston to sidewall clearances.

As you can see from the pictures above. The vehicle had blow-by due to improper tuning along with some other mechanical problems. Clearences were also off which is why we are re-machining the block.

As far as the pistons go. They are not oversized. The old piston has some shrinking.

The motor in the last running state was JUNK. Not clearenced, just slapped together and SO LOOSE! Had less than 100 miles and was JUNK from the dyno tuning..... It was to be a Brian Crower 2.71 liter, with a 102 mm bore..... But not sure what had happened?

The car upon startup poured raw fuel out the exhaust! (Drivability was SO bad it was fix it or junk it! Reminded me of old school mustangs with HUGE injectors and high fuel pressure! Cars that followed would exclaim that the car REAKED of raw fuel!)

Engine was from a "reputable shop" in North Western, PA that specializes in Evos...... Took almost a YEAR for the motor to be sent back..... The sleeving was said to be the delay in completion....

Tuning was done in central NH, by a shop that no longer is in business.....

Very excited to see what happenes with this buildup! I have HIGH reguards for the crew at Automaster!

Mike

Default Turbocharger PICS!

Guys,

Parts are slowly starting to trickle in. Seems the items we needed were on a little bit of a wait. But they are finally coming through the door.

The GT45R-C has come in! Here are some pics of it solo along with it next to a VF39 to give you guys an ideal of how big this beast is.

Pics:

Enjoy. More pics will be up when other items start to arrive.
