Cool GhoSStRyda's 2008 AW STi

this is my first subaru. i have had several friends that have owned subarus and sti's tell me how wonderful the car is. when the new 08's came out, i had to check it out for myself. when i saw the dgm with bbs on the subaru website, i immediately fell in love. it was love at first sight!! the new 5 door configuration was just what i was looking for! turbo, awd, 6mt, and its a wagon... er hatchback...

i brought her home on 01/06/08 and heres a pic of her before i drove her off the lot. by the way, the AW stands for Attention Whore, for the amount of attention this car gets, mostly unsolicited attention...

i've been buying nothing but "non go fast" parts for my car so far. im finally doing a member journal since i've started to order some performance parts for the car. i don't really have big plans for the car since it is my daily driver. i do plan on modding up to stage 2 and a simple suspension set up.

heres my list of non go fast parts i have on the car
- jdm pink sti badge front and rear
- broadway mirror
- sti radiator cap
- arc ti pulley cover
- chrome sti license plate frame
- wheel locks
- all weather floor matts
- jdm cargo trays
- rear bumper cover scuff guard
- perrin shorty antenna
- interior lights swap to white LEDs. LED map light, LED dome light, and LED cargo area light
- hyper white LED license plate lights
- blue batmobile stit208 red overlays
- v limited front lip spoiler top and bottom
- chromed pink sti logo valve caps
- die cut sti logo on rear door sill - removed since the arrival of the jdm door sills
- jdm rear brushed ss door sill
- greddy boost and oil pressure gauge
- rear chrom subaru and impreza badge removed leaving only pink sti
- front cusco strut brace
- greddy boost and oil pressure gauge
- stock fog lights with yellow tint
- silencer delete
- painted front grill and fog light housing flat black. DIY tutorial on post #73
- cobb short shifter and bushings
- adjust headlight height
- stebel airhorn
- beatrush stainless steel radiator shroud

performance power mods
- cobb access port with acn91 stage 1 flash
- fujitsubo legalis stainless steel exhaust

heres some old pics from the first month~

my first mod

parts that im currently waiting for
- volk RE30 18 x 9 +40 bronze rims

next on my to do list
- non premium RA mudflaps
- tmic mesh guard
- rear strut brace from cusco

next on my to buy list
- invidia catted downpipe
- cusco front and rear sways with end links when it becomes available
- underseat powered subwoofer
- grills

my wish list
- fujitsubo headers
- cusco coilover
- some expensive body parts from japan
- stoptech bbk
- pioneer avic-z2 or kenwoods hd excellon navi

i've consistantly had bad luck with keeping the car scatchless... the right side has the most blemishes.... all from the rain storms of the past season. one rock ding on rear right door, and had to repair a small tear on the rear valance with jb weld. got the tear from running over something on the freeway during the storm. two curb rashes on the stockers...

TO ALL 08 STI OWNERS: please take a minute to post on this demographics for 08 sti owners! thanks!!

heres a few pics of the v limited lip just installed

imo, the v limited spoiler is very very understated. i am waiting on the bottom rubber piece to come in. seeing all the other pics of others with the bottom added, i am certain it will give the spoiler a more pronounced appearance.

I like the lip a lot, but its a bit understated. I don't want something ricey saying "Hey, check out how many lines I've got!" but I'd def like something that sticks out a bit more.

Even still, its a huge improvement over not having one at all, I am jealous!

i finally got my cobb ap today after some anxious anticipation. i believe it to be a much better tune than what came on the car. thought essentially its a detune for the i mode. the boost is locked at 5psi in the first two gears. i will be driving in the i tomorrow to see what the rest of the boost is logged at. the s and s# is neck snapping fast! addiction factor = 110%

i got the bottom rear piece for my front v limited... can't wait to get this on to protect the v limited...

Smile Re: GhoSStRyda's 2008 AW STi

after the first day of installing the new cobb acn 91 maps, the I mode mysteriously is now bossting up to 10-11psi's in all gears now. this apparently is a learning stage the car will be going through for the first 250-300 miles according to cobb tech when i called them to ask if my cars behavior was typical. their answer is yes, the cars ecu is still learning the new maps. according to another 08 sti buddy with cobb stage one, the same thing happened when he first tried on his i mode.

today was day two and i can't believe how smooth reving the car feels compared to the stock factory tuning. i have to agree with the rest that have gotten tuning that the stock subaru tuning sux major as$! the car now pulls with out stuttering and the s and s# makes the sti feel like a wild beast!!!

<------ thats me with permagrinn in s#.

i can't wait until my fujitsubo cbe comes in!

couple of minor details that i added this week.

chromed valve cap with pink sti logo

the rear door sills of our sti's did not get the fancy brushed stainless steel door sills like the front did. so for the time being, i added these die cut aluminum sti logo. eventually, im going to see if a machine shop can make me some custom door sills to match the front.

edit: the above sti diecut has been removed since the arrival of the jdm door sills.
