Cool Clean STi- coolblue05's project 05 sti widebody- Post #306 Complete set of pics...

I figured that I would finally start a thread on here covering my sti project.

I used to have an 04 wrx that was cleanly modded.

A couple of pics:

I sold the wrx in October of 2007.

In August 2007, I purchased a OBP 2005 sti. The goal for this car is to cleanly modify it and have a car that will excell in all areas. A car that can be tracked, win at car shows, auto-x, and be a fun nice-day driver. Each part will be carefully chosen to compliment the others.

The sti came from Texas. I had it shipped to Ohio. It has 30,000 miles on the dot. The sti was OBP and stock. It had a some dents here and there, which I already knew about, so I figured that this would give me a chance to make the car my own.

Here is what it looked like when it was first delivered to me:

With my 04 wrx:

Originally, I was just going to replace body parts and paint the whole car the stock OBP color. Then I figured that I would paint it a different color since it would only take a bit more work. After that, I decided on a widebody kit. I had a contact at APR so on 9/26/07, I ordered their full ss/gt widebody kit. Each kit is made to order, so I had to wait a few weeks for it to arrive.

Picture of the kit:

10/15/07- I finally decided on a wheel/tire setup. The Wheel/tire setup was ordered from Tirerack.

Wheels: Enkei NTO3+M 18x10.5 +30 offset (silver)
Tires: 295/30/18 ADVAN A048 R-Comp

10/19/07- The car was taken in to the body shop to begin the body work, widebody, and paint.

10/23/07- APR widebody arrived at body shop. Body panels have been removed from the entire front of the car.

10/24/07- Today we installed the Turn in Concepts fender braces. These look to be a HUGE improvement over stock. With the fenders off, it only takes 5 minutes to install.

10/24/07- Picture of the APR carbon fiber rear diffuser:

10/25/07- New Front brake setup decided on.
New Stoptech 6 piston BBK with silver calipers and 355mm rotors...

10/29/07- Received the wheels/tires

Wheel/Tire pictures...

11-6-07- Rear bumper has been fitted, they are still working on the rear fender pieces. The rear fender pieces will be molded on this weekend and the rear door jambs will be finished.

Pics:

12/4/07- Some updated pictures taken yesterday at the shop...

Picture of the rear door showing how much wider it is...

12/13/07- For suspension, Decided that I would go with with TiC SST track valved coilovers

12/19/07- Test fit the Enkei wheels

Updated Pictures...

Looks high, because it just was lowered from jack....

Clears lock-to-lock. Some modification will be done to provide even more clearance...

1/15/08- Bought a spare 05 sti headlight modified it to make a custom ducted setup to direct air straight into the intake area. Similiar to the JGTC and time attack setups. Here are some pics. I have a little bit more work to do, but it is basically done. This is a spare headlight that will be interchangable with my oem sti headlight.

Pics:

1/15/08- Picked up some Project Kics R40 extended lightweight lugs with locks. They have the neo chro titanium finish.

1/23/08- Picked up a complete 05 wrx black interior (black carpet/door cards/ front and rear seats) No pictures, but everyone know what it looks like.

2/5/08- Decided on Bride GIAS driver's seat and Bride Stradia passenger seat (identical to GIAS but with lower bottom bolsters (both black with gradiation)

Bride rails too...

3/4/08- Bought a new oem wingless trunk at the dealer along with a oem sti limited wing. Test fit the limited wing on and also put in wingless trunk torsion bars so that the trunk does not fly up so violently. Lots of time was spent to get the body lines and gaps just right.

3/14/08- Took some pictures of parts waiting to go on

JDM Night-pager catch can/washer fluid tank combo. VERY rare piece

Black sti floor mat set with embroidered logos...

Test fitting Kics R40 Neo Chro lugs...

3/28/08- Purchased a complete 07 sti limited console

Sick man. You wasted no time! The wheels are awesome. I'm not too sure about the limited spoiler, but I'll reserve judgement until its all together. Good luck

We are mounting the limited spolier with 3M double sided tape only so that it can be removed later if need be and still have a perfect wingless trunk. I am looking for a spare wingless trunk in any color that I can put a big carbon GT wing on for track events.
