Default EuroScube's '04 Project

I don't know when it all started. Maybe it started out way back when Gran Tourismo 1 came out back in the 90's. Back then I was still into minitruckin. At some point, I started growing out of hitting a switch on the freeway and dumping the framerails to the ground leaving a 30 foot trail of sparks behind me then gasping at my shaved framerails afterwards. In '03 I found a way out and finally got my WRX.
Soon after I bought my WRX, rumors of the STi hitting the shores of the US began to flow. 6 months later, it arrived. I weighed my options and I traded in my '03 WRX on an '04 STi (bought in July of '03) taking a $6000 loss on the WRX. So I got the STi for $31k but with the loss, I ended up paying around $38k. What the hell, it was worth it.
In '05 I moved to Germany. I packed the STi up and sent her on a boat to meet me when I got there. Since I have been here, I have tracked the car more and more on Nurburgring. As you know how mods start, the stock seats sucked for tracking so I bought Sparco seats. Then I couldn't get out of my car very easy so I bought a quick release steering wheel. I got tired of Porsche GT3's taking me so easy in the straights so I upgraded to a GT3076 turbo, etc...
October 14th 2007, I wrecked the car on Nurburgring. While I was waiting for it to get out of the shop, I started piecing together everything I would need to upgrade. I bought the turbo kit and FMIC from Ultimate-Racing, the injectors and fuel pump from IA Performance and regretfully I bought a few things from Vivid (that took nearly two months to get to me). I started researching tuners in Germany. I was quoted $2200 for an EcuTek tune at a shop in Luxemberg (GP Tuning). I came up with a better idea and asked several tuners in the states if they would like a free trip to Germany. I ended up flying Stephen from IA Performance to Germany to conduct the turbo install and tune my car. After a hell of a lot of hardships, the car is finally together and had it's first lap around the 'Ring in it's new form March 29th 2008.
Anyway, enough story, let get down to the meat.

Nice ride...
Nice lap on the 'Ring.

Couldn't hear that SSQV on the iaperformance video. I thought those were loud as hell.
Anyway, nice car. It sounds amazing.

cheers.

OK Maybe I did a little too much, a little too fast. I smoked a ringland on Nurburgring two months ago. Typical symptoms, oil popping out of my oil filler cap when the car is running, exhaust sputtering out of the oil filler cap. Car runs fine, though. No smoke coming from the exhaust but it's burning oil at a rate of about 1 quart every 2-3 days.
Took so long to post because right after I smoked the ringland, I deployed to Iraq. Great timing, now I can save up for the new block. Stephen at IA Performance in cooperation with Ron Williams at Axis is building me a new Axis Stg2 block (w/ ARP head studs, head gasket, Greddy timing belt, timing belt tensioner, oil pump, etc..). Nothing extreme. Even leaving the heads stock. More mods coming along with the block like GrpN motor and tranny mounts. GrpN pitch mount, Beatrush or M1 Subframe (haven't decided yet), Dropping my WL Swaybars and endlinks and I'm going to try either the Cobbs or Hotchkis. Koyo aluminum radiator, and oil cooler.

Good luck with the "new" project. I have a MY08 and I am planning on working with the guys at IAperformance soon. They are "only" a four hour drive from my home town and seem very professional.
